Depends on your age.

As a Kid I was a Spiderman and Batman fan. I had a black cape that got caught in my bicycle's rear sproket and my mom wasn't about to make a full blown Spidey Costume, but I pretended I had web shooters and also had a Spiderman Big Wheel.
As a Teen I was fingerblasting ladies in between skate sessions to the tunes of New Order, Duran Duran and Bauhaus.
As a Young Adult I was in college, but glad that Sam Raimi was making a Spiderman movie. I still like Tim Burton's Batman.
As an Adult I am still a Spiderman and Batman fan, but I am sick of Batman having a retelling of his origin story in almost every bit of medium released and Spiderman never being given a proper representation of his adult age as Prime Spiderman robs fans the world over.

Neither are cool. Their villains have always been cool and you can go down a list for either in arguments for which villain is actually cooler

Spider Man: Venom (his own franchise), Carnage (current leading man in comics), Dr. Octopus (replaced spiderman before)

Bat Man: Joker (his own franchise), Ra's al Ghul (current leading man in comics), Azrael (replaced Batman Before)

I don't think either are. Like @Hinedorf said, the more interesting characters are their sworn enemies who keep showing up uninvited

Always loved Spider-Man more. Probably because I grew up playing the games. My uncle had one of them on his Atari, gave me his copy for Sega Genesis at some point too I'm pretty sure… Played the one for N64 they were all good

But I like the fact that Peter Parker is some kind of scientific genius, or at the very least a brainy type kid who is relatively normal and humble despite his super hero powers and super human attributes

Batman struggles with his past more it seems, the most interesting part about Batman is that he refuses to kill his enemies. I think that adds a massive amount of depth to his character, but I'm not too familiar with his lore and all. That goes for both really, but at least with Spider-Man I know the basics

It depends on which iteration of each one you are talking about.

A hero is only as good as their rogue's gallery and a rogue's gallery is only as good as their hero. They are symbiotic.

Batman is cooler though.

As much as I enjoy both, Batman is such a dour, no-fun downer of a character. Spidey is an easy-breezy good time guy that does his hero thing *while* also being able to smile and laugh at life's absurdities. I prefer that.

Serious answer is still based on your age, at least for me.

When I was a kid I liked superheros. I liked the masked identities and the neat action these two would engage in. Spiderman gets the tilt because he had actual super powers of stamina, speed, strength, resilience and the ability to sense things as well as being a smart scientist. Batman was just a rich tough guy in a suit with gadgets.

As I got older I appreciated the real power Batman had in that he could counter anyone with a super power due to his intellect, physical conditioning and master strategies as a tactician. His ability to reason through any puzzle is where he excels as I aged. It takes the fantasy of I am very strong and can do all sorts of unnatural stuff as super heroes can do and puts the power of the mind as the counter to the physical power.

The fantasy of being a kid who wanted to jump high, lift heavy items and be unnaturally fast was relegated to the probable idea that any human could achieve Batman's ability if they had a talent for deduction and a photographic memory. The Billionaire status also has its own perks to enable Batman to do what he does.

Y'know, Spidey is the one who is technically part spider. Yet I'd say, Batman is more of a recluse :sneaky: ........

Did I win dad joke of the year?

Spider-Man is a nerd and a dork who talks too much (seriously, shut the fuck up Peter) and only is a hero because he got bitten by a random spider.

Batman is a millionaire playboy genius businessman who spend years of his life traveling and training in every useful skill known to man, while learning discipline (both physical and mental). Batman MADE himself a super hero, unlike most heroes who just randomly acquired super powers. Batman also had the mental fortitude to overcome a traumatic childhood experience that would have broken some people.

Batman is a bastion of moral strength and fiber. The Uncle Ben situation would have never happened to him.

Batman is a masculine, confident, no nonsense, alpha male, Spider-Man is an awkward, nerdy, beta dork who is only cool to teenagers. Eventually you grow out of being into Spider-Man.

Spider-man is a hero for boys. Batman and Wolverine are heroes for men

Also, Deadpool is ten times fucking cooler than Spider-Man and is actually funny while Peter just thinks that he's funny. They both talk too much though.

I voted Batman, but if I had gone with an anime option (which I guess would fit in the "other" section), it would be either Spike Spiegel (for just being cool in general and multi-talented) or Vegeta (the very definition of badass Alpha male). Spike is just a cool motherfucker we'd all like to be, Vegeta is a guy who inspires you go to the gym and never stop training.

Old Marvel Spidey both have been neutered by both companies and a shell of their former selves.
Both are cool just ruined by horrible writers and that's pretty sad but If I had to choose now probably Batman

I can't take Batman seriously after the way he talks in Nolan's movies. He talks like a tard in the face of his enemies, meanwhile Spider-Man just clowns on them the entire time and never takes his enemies too seriously. Batman also has a weakling butt buddy named Robin who constantly tags around. Idk man, neither of these super heroes are perfect but Spider-Man was better until Miles Morales ruined the character

Friendly counterpoints,

I'm an actions speak louder than words type of guy, and this is more badass and intimidating than any of Spidey's lame jokes:

REAL badasses don't need to say much, they just get straight to business:

Constant talking is for women, not men. Plus, this guy does shit talking better than Spider-Man and is ten times cooler than him as well:

Nightwing's a badass ladies man who is respected by everyone in the DC universe. He even WAS Batman for a period of time in the comic books. Batman's own sidekicks are cooler than Spider-Man. He doesn't even need to be in this contest himself LOL. I'd rather be Red Hood or Nightwing than Spider-Man. It's actually more believable that guys like Dick Grayson or Jason Todd could get with girls like Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane in real life than it is that a dork like Peter Parker could. A real life Peter Parker would be in every girl's friend zone with the way he acts around ladies.

The Nolan movie voice was stupid though, so I will give you a point on that. Michael Keaton and Tim Burton gave us the best live action Batman.

Oh, and everyone always likes to make gay jokes about Batman and Robin, while conveniently ignoring the existence of Batgirl and the fact that both Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson have fucked her, and that's not even mentioning the many other female conquests Batman and Dick Grayson are known for.

Peter Parker leg pressed a train to a complete stop bro. Plus Mary Jane has way longer nipples than any of the bee stings from the Batgirls. Mike and Ike nipples or bust as I always say

What if Batman fell down in his cave and broke a bone or something? Can you imagine that awkward phone call to 911?
