In Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise's original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family's terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family's dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door. The original cast from Insidious is back with Patrick Wilson (also making his directorial debut), Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, and Andrew Astor. Also starring Sinclair Daniel and Hiam Abbass. Produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan and Leigh Whannell. The screenplay is written by Scott Teems from a story by Leigh Whannell, based on characters created by Leigh Whannell.

I won't watch the trailer cuz I already know I want to see this, thank you very much, and I'm still waiting for Insinister.

Are these even horror movies or aren't they pretty much ghost-adventure movies? From what I remember that first movie is a horror-movie for like the first third, then a team of ghost hunters arrives and it turns into a story about exploring the ghost world.

It's a little reminiscent of the movie Poltergeist that way. The first part starts as haunting set pieces, but the end of the movie they go into the realm where the kid is to get him back. It worked really, really well — especially the red demon (who was also heavily inferred to be the demon from Paranormal Activity), which was scary as fuck.

and are all insidious movies like the first one? ive only seen that one.

I always prefered movies like The Conjuring-series which focuses more on a pseudo-plausible realism, rather than scary camera-tricks and blood/gore.

Most of them are, and I agree that Insidious is not quite on the same class as the Conjuring series, the only misstep of which has been the one about the devil making him do it or whatever it was. The rest have been so good, especially the second one (the Nun is scary as hell).
