Thread: Indie Games & Hidden Gems |OT| It's Not About Size
Official Thread

Fun little puzzle game based on the classic riddles like "there are two doors. One sign above the door tells the truth, and another sign is lying". In this case, you are opening chests for equipment and loot as you delve deeper into the dungeon. At least one chest is a Mimic and if you pick it, you're kicked back to your house immediately. You don't have to open all of the correct chests before advancing, but better equipment helps you deal with battles. There's a demo. I bought it after finishing the tutorial dungeon.

One dev indie game

Dude, go to the aquarium in Osaka, it is bloody fantastic!

I should have known that earlier man. Tomorrow we have no time. My gf wants to see Osaka castle and she bought me sumo tickets for my birthday. And I'm leaving the day after for wakayama. We're going to spend three months in Japan.

Played the demo for Trinity Fusion on Steam and the game is on sale.

I'm torn. Gameplay is a lot of fun, it controls well, good flow and design, combat instantly clicked with me. But the art design is rather unappealing, the animations are stiff which is a huge bummer, and I'm tired of rogue lites.

I've had this in my wishlist since it came out and I think I'll wait until it's bundled. Too many games, too little time for mediocre ones.

Red candle shared a new release date trailer for nine sold a couple of days ago.

It's a metroidvania inspired by hollow knight and I think Okami. I kinda dig it.

The art style in the introduction looked awesome, but then when the gameplay was shown, the backgrounds looked very boring and bland, I expected more tbh.

Not indie but definitely a gem IMO, the new Alone in the Dark.

Some glowing reviews, some harsh reviews. All I can say is that if you like old school survival horror, you really can't go wrong. Fun dodge mechanics, melee looks goofy but is responsive and works. Gunplay is no better or worse than RE2make. Lots of great puzzles, files, and the atmosphere/OST are 10/10.

Don't sleep on this title if you like survival horror.

Huntdown is so dope. I haven't played it myself but I watched my buddy stream it all the time last year. It has such a vibe and looks fun as hell. Definitely need to get it someday.
Absolutely. Plays great and visually it's like this awesome amalgamation of old Sierra and stuff from the 88-91 arcade scene.

Been keeping an eye on this game for a little over a year now, though I missed this new trailer somehow. Looks absolutely phenomenal, and although I haven't played any RTS in years, the Expanse vibes I'm getting here are sealing the deal for me.

"A boring game like bowling that actually is not boring! Let's go to Brazil from Japan!"

The Brazil by Japanese indie devs Happy Meal.

It looks like a psuedo-sequel to Masala Drive, which I adored... an irreverent send-up of Indian public transport in the style of a old battery operated racing toy, plus a BANGER OST.

I finished Blazing Chrome (really good, would recommend for run n gun fans if you haven't already played it). Started to play a couple of levels of Hunt down and yeah, I get the feeling this game is going to be awesome. Right off the bat the gameplay feels great with the cover system and the aesthetic is dope.

This game just popped up on my YouTube. Releases April 4th on steam, epic, ps5 and switch. I like the clean aesthetics of the game, the gameplay isn't really convincing imo.

I saw this a while ago too… first indie game from Cuba I think? Yeah Metroidvania needs to be really something special to grab my attention these days. Way too many good ones with few great.

CRYPT STALKER: A very solid ClassicVania inspired game... actually 3 games. An NES style game with a nice difficulty and fast-paced, which matches the 16:9 nicely, a GB style side game with 4 levels, and a "Lost Levels" sequel which is pretty tough.
Nice built in challenges too for no hit, no whip, no sub, etc.

All a steal for $1.99 on Switch (on sale)

Steam version:

I have this on the wish list. But I have no money on my account and am too busy lazy to add some. I'm sure it will be onsale again come October but good to know it's a worthwhile purchase

Curious how indie devs could get more traction. This dude absolutely nails it, amazing work with incredible features, a ton of tracks for his Early Access release, but lacks exposure.

Only 1900 wishlists so far is kinda depressing. Being an indie dev is rough.

Did my part and added it to my wishlist. Hoping it comes to fruition.

I've been keeping an eye on this one for a while onw. Former 'Panda Indie Studio' devs who made a great set of very "punk rock" subversive shmups with great mechanics, humor, and charm.
Haven't grabbed it yet but all the feedback of seen so far is this a special one for fans of 3D platformers.
