Thread: I love the Wii U
I'll always love the Wii U, not only for its great library, but for the fact that, when all is said and done, I think it will likely be the last truly unique feeling console.

I bought a WiiU and ended up selling it.
It was a cool console and I dug some of the games, but my big problem was that the graphics were just too behind other consoles so I often found myself on my PS4 and PC instead.

I effing love the Wii U, easily one of my favorite consoles of all time.

Yes the software library is limited but holy smokes it has no shortage of absolute bangers.

My first time playing through Zombi U at launch was legit one of the best gaming experiences of my life and I was 27 when the thing launched. The Miiverse too, man it was awesome!

Yea it had some droughts but wow, what a freaking console. It's still hooked up and the wife and I play it on a somewhat regular basis. Nintendoland, Mario Chase in particular, is one of the best multiplayer games ever and the inclusion of the camera and how it displays the persons face on the TV creates some absolutely hilarious moments.

I even have a back up deluxe model, still in the box in case anything ever happens to the one we currently use.

WII U 4 LIFE!

Man that's disappointing, both the zero mentions in this thread for these amazing games and the lack of ports of said games for the Switch. Hoping all three, especially Xenoblade X get on the Switch or its Successor. The Wii U for all its failure still had its share of incredible games. Its one of if not the most underrated console for me, even more then the GameCube and thats due to its vast reverse compatibility library (one example is the entire Zelda series bar only ALBW and TOTK).
Those three games I want on the Switch (or its eventual successor) more than almost any other Wii U games. The next would have to be Yoshi's Wooly World, Kirby: Canvas Curse (Wii), Paper Mario: Color Splash. I do sort of want to play those New Super Mario / Luigi Wii U games as well

I tried to 100% complete The Wind Waker twice and it's a very difficult game to fully complete I've found. Failed both times. One more thing I have to get off my chest...

Spliiiiiiiiiissshhhhhhhhhhh

My favorite Wii U games were Tekken Tag 2 and Monster Hunter 3 HD. Loved the console so much that it took me forever to warm up to the Switch

I love my Wii U waaaayyy more than I love my Switch.

That game drought was real though, I bought it for Sm4sh thinking it would turn the tide, but I don't think I ended up buying another game until BOTW.

But, homebrew and that sweet ass internet browser made up for it and I still have my old boy hooked up and ready cuz it's just the ultimate Nintendo machine.

Is the internet browser still active or is there some sort of Pretendo solution at this point?

God, i have such warm-hearted Wii U memories. Never understood why so few gave it a proper go. Nintendo was needlessly the butt of the joke that gen

Xenoblade Chronicles X getting a Definitive Edition for Switch. So hyped for that.

Would be nice for Twilight Princess and Wind Waker for Switch 1/2.

Ditto Metroid Prime Echos and Corruption.

Ditto Monster Hunter 3 and 4.

Super Mario Galaxy 2.

But especially Pandoras Tower and the Last Story, Xenoblades long neglected Operation Rainforest comrades.

So many Nintendo games no longer available or accessible with Wii U/3DS store closures.

I honestly really hated the Wii U. It was the only time I've wanted to buy a non-Nintendo console. Thankfully that gen only lasted 5 years and Nintendo got better after that, I swear the only good thing to come from that gen for me is finding out how much I love Super Smash Bros. Melee and adjacent games.

The Wii-U sucked. Its better games can now be played on the Switch, Starfox Zero effectively killed the franchise, and I don't give a rat's ass about its multiplayer capabilities. Then there's the whole debacle of many people's units no longer even working anymore...

I wouldn't mind trying to get some homebrew on mine though...if it's one of the ones that still works.

Nintendo's only great consoles were the NES, the SNES, the Switch, and maybe you could say the Gamecube, but man it had a limited library from what I recall so that one's debatable. The system itself was pretty cool though. The Wii was for casuals, the Wii-U was just an abomination that didn't sell well, and the N64 was one of the most retarded systems ever conceived by a gaming company.

Nintendo's greatest strength, as we have learned over a few decades now, is handheld systems...except the Virtual Boy

The neat thing about the GameCube is how well its best games have aged in relationship to modern gaming. Those are still some absolute bangers 20-25 years later. Sure, PS2 was a better platform with far more games and definitely far more 80-and-above rated games, but in terms of the 90-and-above rated games the GameCube does not slouch even compared to PS2. It may have even had more 90-and-above rated games based on a few editorial opinions I read back then.

GameCube has its flaws, but those games are still kicking ass today. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, and so forth.

I'd take the Gamecube any day over the Wii U. Never a fan of it. Felt too gimmicky to me and didn't really have any games that appealed to me enough for me to buy one.

Only Nintendo console that I never bought.

The Switch is the better successor anyway.
