I went to Homeslice Pizza in South Congress District and saw Gordon Ryan and his Brazilian wife there. I imagine if I lived in Austin I'd be bumping into BJJ/mma guys pretty often like Tim Kennedy and John Danaher.

Homeslice Pizza is just standard NY style by the slice. Honestly though I find it to be just okay and whenever I crave a slice of pizza I'll just pick one up at Costco for half the price. Dave Portnoy reviewed the place and I think he gave it an average rating. It's a very popular place though....I dunno when it comes to popular pizza joints the only ones I found lived up to their reputation were Lombardi's in NYC and Gino's East in Chicago.
I love that guys reviews. His App even has people reviewing in Australia.
Whats the BBQ like?
It varies. I've tried 3 different bbq places. One of them was pretty good...one sucked...and one was amazing. The pretty good one is Terry Black's BBQ, really famous in Austin and I believe the 2nd most popular bbq place after Franklin's BBQ (I didn't even bother, I hear wait time is up to a few hours and some people bring chairs to sit on while they wait in line....no restaurant is worth that IMO).
But the best of the three was just a random place I chose because it was nearby. It was half the price of Terry Black's and IMO tasted better.
