Pretty excited for this now, been trying to avoid any videos because it looks like it will be a great world to explore. Graphics are fucking insane as well, the small animals running around the world have better models than they would have in a game that focused on said animals.

Very interested in the upcoming PS4 vs PS5 comparison by DF. In the short PS4 clips in the PS5 DF vid, there was horrible shadow draw distance. Like literally a couple feet in front of Aloy, shadows popping up. So bad.

I'm purposely trying not to look at much, but the few minutes of someone streaming I watched (PS5 version) really did look a whole hell of a lot like Horizon 1. Like down to the side mission structure, the voice acting, etc. Improved models and animations but still kinda lifelessly shifting back and forth while reading superfluous lines written hastily for optional sidequests.

It looks like it will be fun to play, though. I like the gameplay formula. I didn't get to spot any new melee mechanics, though. From what I've seen and what has been said in the DF Analysis, it looks vastly better than the first game and especially the dialogues with NPCs look way better. No longer the static and stiff back and forth, but more realistic animations and more varied direction.

As I'm trying not to see much, I can only go off a few minutes of an inconsequential side quest I happened to tune in for. In that moment it just had horizon 1 with cosmetic improvements written all over it is all.

And when I read this back, it sounds like a bad thing lol. I don't mean it as a bad thing. I ended up liking Horizon 1 a lot and even played the DLC. I was just hoping for a more substantial difference to the game, maybe.

Yeah that pop in on PS4 and Pro is CRAZY. Even PS5 has some pretty noticable pop in, from what I've seen in those videos.

Edit: rewatched some sections and PS4 has pretty distracting LoD transitions like 10m in front of Aloy. Geometry just popping into a new model.

That's what's gonna happen for me too. I forced myself to play all of Ratchet at 30fps because the visuals are part of the spectacle for a game like that, but Horizon needs the fluidity IMO. It won't stop me from trying 30fps as long as I can anyway lol

I watched Maximillian on twitch play the first 6 minutes or so and the character models are just crazy looking.

From the DF video, despite YouTube compression, the difference in image clarity and detail was very noticable between the 30 and 60fps modes. Way nicer and crisper in the 30fps mode. But the feeling of 60fps is always so much better.

1440p is the sweet spot for me regarding performance vs visuals on consoles tbh.

From what I've seen/read its still definitely worth playing but its like playing the game on an old laptop and you've edited the ini files to reduce the shadow capsule and model pop-in distance to 10 feet to make it run above 20fps.

I haven't played it personally though, no.
