Great OT! Really hope this one turns out well. Will be out of town when it launches, so I don't have it pre-ordered. Fingers crossed the PC version isn't a disaster at launch.

I think the PC and current gen versions will be fine. The delayed ancient gen versions though....

Nice OT btw. @Grisham

Fantastic OT!

I can't friggin wait for this. Reading through the Harry Potter series has become a family tradition we do with our kids once a year. Every night when we're all together I read out loud and do the voices.

In fact, next Thursday we will be picking up our first puppy as a family from the breeder. We named him Neville after the character from the books. Wife wants to name him Neville Dogbottom on his papers...

323982288_1551170702052243_4392849315268916056_n.jpg

He's a black tri Australian Shepherd with dark blue eyes. We were initially going to get a Blue Merle Border Collie from the same breeder but after a couple visits that puppy ended up seeming skittish. We were in the middle of holding a different puppy and I look down and there this puppy was, standing at guard (close but with back turned, watching out) right in between my feet while all the others played and rough housed. If I moved, he'd move as well and stood back at guard. He did the same for my wife. Literally the only puppy that did this out of 15 or so from different litters that were running around. So I picked him up and my wife and I held him. He had such a sweet personality that we both fell in love. I mean, we chose the other dog because we thought it was cute and it was beautiful to look at, but it really seemed like this puppy chose us. At the end of the visit he had just found a nice warm spot in the middle of the puppy pile to rest and as we were walking out the gate we turn around and there he was, totally on his own, following us like it was time to go... Can't wait to get the little tyke home and start training.

Anyhow, hopefully the game lives up to the hype. I was gonna pick up a copy at launch, haul the PC to the living room and play with the family but we're putting money towards the dog and dog supplies etc. And it's gonna be all hands on deck with training and socializing for a while anyways. So I hope you all enjoy!

Nice OT @Grisham, great work.

No idea if I'll end up playing this or not because of time reasons. But it's cool people are finally getting that big Hogwarts RPG they've been asking for for years. The footage I've seen looks really cool. Hope it lives up to the hype.

I want to believe this is going to be a great game. I will probably buy a copy or two just because. Why do I feel like this game is going to be a total mess though?

Portkey games. Pretty much their first new AAA game. Realistically we should all hope for an "ok" to a "good" game. It's incredibly doubtful they will knock it out of the park on their first go.

All the gifs are killing my phone lol, making my browser crash.

Game looks visually rough in some places, but they nail the atmosphere and most importantly, it looks fun to play.

Looking forward to the reviews, hope the drama won't affect the gaming press - doubt it though.

Disappointing to hear it's Denuvo'd but glad it's good for Steam Deck (though tbh these days basically everything is - the thing is insanely good).

Long live Harry Potter and the great J.K. Rowling

They really have come a long way. I used to have the Harry Potter game in 2001 for GBA

I'll be dead honest; I thought this was an MMO, lol. Or something like Elden Ring.

I already have TW3, CP2077, Horizon Forbidden West, and a lot of other big single player games in my backlog.

Will probably pick this up on sale just to support anything that triggers REE.

A new leak on Twitter, however, has hinted at some new art, gameplay details, and even a rough idea of how long the game will take to complete. The leaks include a more in-depth look at the house designs as well as the larger world that has been created for the big project.

As well as the artwork, the leak also claims that the game will take around 70 hours for those wanting to 100% the game. Therefore, it seems as though the game will be a 35-hour experience for those simply wanting to play through most the central narrative.

The leak also claims that the Avada Kedavra curse – one of the most famous spells in the Harry Potter lore and a killing curse – can only be learned via a side mission and only after the main storyline has been completed.

As well as this, the main storyline will reportedly differ depending on which Hogwarts house you choose to be sorted into. The progress of main quests will change – with some houses getting to visit a location like Azkaban – but ultimately all house experiences will wrap up in the same way.

I'm genuinely curious to see what happens with the reviews. Will the game be rated on its own merit or will the review sites cave to Twitter and slap the game with a 6-7 score no matter how good it is? I'm waiting for reviews before I buy it, so it'll be tough to discern this go around.

I'm really concerned about this.

As good as the game looks, if the gameplay matches the visual panache; then it's deserving of high scores and should rightfully get them. If media outlets and YouTube "influencers" cave to the 30 or so people globally that are boycotting this game and give it a low score solely because J.K. Rowling created the universe & lore - then fuck them.

I'm pretty sure this game will be review bombed by certain sites to show their "ally" credentials. A good example of this already is the Kotaku system specs article that made sure to virtue signal at the end of every section.

Does anyone really care about review sites anymore? I don't think many "enthusiasts" do. And casuals will buy it anyway because it's Potter and it looks cool.

I don't doubt that the usual shitbags will crap on it. Much like they crapped on Days Gone because they went with a straight white male as the protagonist.

User reviews are the way to go.

Unless it's an absolute dog I suspect will sell like hot cakes.

I care in that I try to get an aggregate to determine whether or not I buy the game. Typically I look at both "professional" reviews and user scores to see where the truth lies. If the pool is fouled by virtue signalling reviews then it'll make my decision to pull the trigger harder. Hopefully enough D-Padders get it and put some time in early since I trust most of you.

There's a decent amount of youtube reviewers who remain "uncompromised", if you will. I'd certainly trust their opinion over the usual sites.

The troon goon squad will probably be sending death threats to every game journo if they don't give it a 5/10.
