Been saving up my supercredits to buy the premium warbond but that heavy suit and those helmets look pretty sick.

From Discord:

DISPATCH FROM SUPER EARTH HIGH COMMAND

VICTORY!
Heeth and Angel's Venture have been returned to the nurturing embrace of Managed Democracy, thanks to the tireless efforts and unhesitating sacrifices of the Helldivers. As eager colonists flock to forge a new future upon this fertile ground, mounds of the bug carcasses harvested by your hands will fuel the spread of Managed Democracy ever further.

In recognition of your selfless service, a Victory Bonus has been delivered to every Super Destroyer in the fleet. As you requisition upgrades to your weaponry, know that all Super Earth Citizens are grateful for your sacrifice.

Super Earth High Command is currently conducting DDMP (Democratic Decision-Making Process) analysis to determine the most optimal next step. Further orders will be issued shortly.

In the meantime, it is left to each Helldiver to exercise their elite tactical judgment in determining where best to spread Freedom next. To maximize that impact, High Command has waived safety protocols in order to fast-track the authorization of a certain stratagem's usage for a short time. Details will be available on your ship.

Well done, Helldivers. You have earned a moment to celebrate. Now that we have celebrated, it is time to press the advantage. To the next fight!

I bought a light armor, it's honestly the best option. Because movements speed and faster stamina regeneration are more important than a bit of armor. The additional mobility saved my ass a lot of times.

Regarding the main weapon, the current meta is that the SG 225 shotgun is the best choice and I can say that it's the best weapon I've used so far.

From what I've heard the armour system is busted at the moment anyways and the armour values don't make a difference, so it doesn't sound like there's a reason to use anything but light as far as defence goes until it gets fixed. Not that I could stop using it if I tried, that movement speed and stamina regen is too damn good to give up.

Edit: found a video on it

Playing with a buddy who INSISTS on using the fucking mortar turret. That thing killed me so many times, it's not even funny. And you can't avoid it. Being chased by enemies, that mortar friendly fire will likely kill you.

Fuck the mortar turret.

They can be great for helping defend a point, but yeah if you start getting overrun to the point where you are running from mobs it quickly becomes the worst enemy.

I died laughing when I did this, but I wasn't paying attention to where I was running trying to get away from a friend who just called in an airstrike on us, not expecting there to be anything in my way:

I wasn't going to get this game because I'm not often interested in shooters. The last shooter that I played and enjoyed was Destiny, many years ago.

So I decided I will get the game if I can convince some friends of mine to also buy the game. A few phone calls later to my friends that I used to play Destiny with and we now all own the game.

I won't get to try it until tomorrow but I am looking forward to it. Especially seeing the clips being posted! The game definitely presents really well.

Welcome aboard, man! I'll be genuinely surprised if you guys don't end up having a blast, but here's hoping you and your friends get as hooked on it as the rest of us do because they really have made something special here.

A pleasure to have you and your merry band of Super-Earth-born-democracy-spreaders aboard!

Enjoy it man and don't forget to call down at least 1 380mm Orbital Barrage on your friends.

Kind of makes me want to introduce my friends to the original but I wonder if the top down perspective is a bridge too far.

I managed to convince a couple of mine to give it a try the week before launch (hoping it would make them take the plunge), and they weren't getting my hype for it at first, but it really set in after a couple of missions and now I'm playing the 2nd game with them. I think the first game still has the ability to draw people in despite hesitation over the perspective, so I'd say it can't hurt to try. That game had a permanent space reserved on my Vita and playing it again reminded me exactly why.

The shotguns slays, really good weapon.

I wasn't sure anything would top my enjoyment of the Punisher shotgun, then I almost forgot about it completely after I unlocked the Breaker. I'm hoping the trend continues with the Slugger that I'm approaching the unlock for, but I'll be impressed if they can top how it feels.

Deep Rock is one of my favorite games but combat in it is just OK. Its nothing compared to Helldivers.

Oh for sure, I just like how all 3 of these goofy-ass games that put fun first got so wildly popular. I've had a great time with friends on DRG as well as Lethal Company, but my enjoyment of Helldivers 2 is next level.

I enjoy the down-time in DRG a lot. Messing around on the station, drinking beer, moving around the caves, mining, building pumps, riding the excavator, enjoying the sights etc. I'd love for the Helldivers 2 to have some non-combat activities, especially aboard the ship (the stratagem arcade is boring). The only thing so far that I enjoy is looking out the window and quoting Bladerunner.

OK i just grabbed this. I dont have any friends. Do I just kiill stuff by myself?

Managed to do two Blitz missions on Extreme difficulty solo this morning.

I wouldn't say I enjoyed myself exactly, but it's good to know it's do-able. I also failed to extract on both, shit gets cursed when trying to defend the extraction point.

I find the game very boring when playing solo. The sense of camaraderie and coordination is essential to me. The first game was a bit more predictable and manageable with the way enemies spawned and moved around the map. Here it is much more chaotic, brutal and random, which is better suited for multiple people that can support each other.

If you play Helldivers 1 properly you can do any difficulty solo without any issues, you must make no mistakes but it is possible, I did all three lvl 15s just to see if they were doable. Then you had the crazy boss fights which are tough as heck on paper but can be cheesed extremely easily (a 20 minute battle can be done a like 1 or 2 with a specific strategy).

Yep, the fun is definitely in co-op! I just wanted to see if I could do the daily order mission, but the 120mm Barrage is a piece of shit, I hate it so much. It never hits anything lol

What a champ. I have yet to dare try anything above challenging on solo because extraction is always brown pants time (though I found a blindspot I can hide in when the LZ is on that little mountaintop), so hats off to you for doing it on Extreme.

Yesterday's matchmaking patch seems to have fixed the whole privacy/visibility thing so I'm able to actually appear offline now and play the game in peace when I don't have time to commit for a 40 minute mission and don't want to feel like a dick dropping out of a squad when I have to go. Did some testing on which difficulty is going to give me the most bang for my buck on time when it's limited, and contrary to what I assumed going into it, Trivial seems to be the sweet spot for a feet up session. Getting around 230XP and 1k Reqs every 3 minutes because the map size is so small that the objective is practically touching tips with the extraction and the quick completion bonus is usually around 90% time remaining. The illegal broadcast one is especially a sinch because you can just airstrike it from the extraction and leave. Because the map is so small the distance between collectibles are compacted too so it's only an extra 2 minutes or so to run a lap around the map picking them all up, and I've left with 5-7 extra medals at a time depending on how RNGesus is feeling. Not bad for about 5 minutes of work, but I'm looking forward to the weekend for co-op with the boys because like mcz says, the camaraderie really makes the game, but at least I can make a little progress to keep up with them when I can only sneak on briefly.

I was gutted to not extract on either, I had so many rare mats that never made it out. I need better gear to do Extreme properly, something with medium armour penetration would be a blessing.

Honestly, it's not worth running anything higher than maybe medium/challenging solo. It becomes an exercise in evasion most of the time and a lot of time hiding whilst waiting for stratagems to reload. Not to mention the overwhelming amount of stuff thrown at you. Definitely designed for co-operative play at higher levels, which I like, it forces you and your squad to think about your kit a bit more than just "I'll take all the big bombs" though that's fun too.
