Thread: Halloween Kills - Official Trailer
I still haven't seen the 2018 movie, so I am not sure how I should feel about this one. The vibe I get from the trailer is that they "turn the tide" on Mike and attempt to hunt his ass (to a degree). Not very exciting to me.

Watched this in theaters yesterday. Thought it was cool. Loved Tommy's mustang. Felt it was a missed opportunity. The ending was weak but the ride was great. So good until last 5-8 minutes.

Totally awesome movie, definitely one of my favorite entries in the franchise. Love that it visually references the massively underrated Halloween III: season of the witch, and it had massive balls with the direction it went in for the end. I guess the Blu-ray is going to have an extended ending though they said it's an extended version but they didn't say if there's anything else added besides that ending it's a cool looking Blu-ray though. For theaters they thought the way they ended it was perfect but there is a bit more apparently and you'll get to see it on the Blu-ray.

My guess is there was more with the other escaped person. Might be cool to see an extended cut.

Gay.

Saw it, loved the set up in the begining. Gets a little goofy in the middle and towards the end.. they really have no idea what to do with this story.. The kills were good at least.

If I were them I would go full on Samhain and Halloween like Carpenter did. Witchcraft and all that.

This trailer shows too much. What is the point of the movie when they showed a large amount of tension kills. Is there some secret plot line that will redeem this?

I am more pissed about the makers of the movie trailer than whether or not the movie will be good. You think Hollywood would stop doing this with Horror/Action films and comedies, especially. Stop showing what's under your skirt before we sit down to the show.

What is the point, otherwise?

I thought it was fantastic. I really hope the third/forth nails the conclusion too.

I just hope they don't try to explain things too deeply. There's always more horror in the unknown than in any goofy fantasy explanations you could come up with, no matter how 'evil' you make it.

I dunno they explained everything in H3 and it just made it creepier.

This shit is so fucking stupid.

I was planning to stream this this Halloween. I had never actually seen any of the Halloween movies before last Halloween (day), and was actually a little excited for it. I was going to re-watch the original and the 2018 movie again, then watch this. I'm not watching a movie if it's not the full experience with shit consciously removed for marketing purposes. I won't buy games that do that, and I'm not going to spend $30+ to stream a movie that does that.

Well according to Green the version currently available is his directors cut so it sounds like adding this back in for the Blu-ray is the marketing thing. He does say the scene is good but he says he decided the way the film ends now is the right way to end it considering where they're going with the next film. And it sounded like one of the blumhouse guys agreed with him. Also if you can do peacock plus it's only $5 to stream it.

It was ok. It was more entertaining that the last one, but holy shit everyone in this movie is so fucking stupid that there was zero tension, didn't care about anyone dying at all. Tommy's old fat ass walking around with a baseball bat acting like he was the final boss was the biggest joke of all.

Yeah this much was obvious from that god awful hospital scene that went on way too long.

That scene made no fucking sense at all, everyone devolved into blind retards pretending this 4 foot tall penguin looking motherfucker was Michael, everyone acting like they have never seen this bitch before. The most infamous resident of their town, dude all over the news, someone many of them have seen before. They were just going insane because the story needed them to.

Not the worst Halloween movie, but def one I'm not really interested in watching again.

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch was the best Halloween movie imo.

It is a love or hate kind of deal, and I dig it. Would have been nice to treat the Halloween movies like the Conjuring movies, where they are loosely connected, but separate stories that only manifest during the Halloween season.

It's also so 80's it hurts. The clothing, hairstyles, camera angles and music..Bad Taste deluxe...drop me off at the mall with a pocket full of quarters, I'll be home by dinner.

I don't think season of the witch is the best one but I totally respect anyone who feels that way because it's totally underrated and just a really awesome movie I kind of wish it just released as a movie called season of the witch without the Halloween 3 behind it, it's one of those rare cases where the branding actually hurt it instead of helping it

I am currently rewatching Halloween 2018 and was pleased to see that when Michael is walking down the street you can see the black couple from Halloween kills in there costumes getting ready to get in the car and the man says he has to go back inside to look for his stethoscope and the woman actually gives Michael a look before they leave. Very cool little details.

My favorite thing is in H2018 Allyson's dad talking to Cameron at dinner about how he used to buy drugs from Lonnie.

Lonnie actually reveals the truth and it was Lonnie who bought drugs from Allyson's dad. I thought that was a really touching moment, Allyson's father slightly altering the story to make himself look a bit more responsible to his daughter. Allyson's reaction when Lonnie tells that story is really touching.

We've been over this in the Horror OT but yea, I love Halloween Kills. Saw it a 2nd time in the theater on Saturday and had a blast. It was full of high schoolers and they were loving it. Lots of great reactions, "that's soooo gross!!" "Big John, NOOOOOOOO!!!" lol.

I liked this movies ideas, especially the end, and I think it had far better kills than 2018 Halloween. I think some of the hospital chaos was lost on me as I did not watch 2018 again before this and it seems that it would have been a good idea. WHen the third one is coming out I will do a rewatch of both.

I saw it a 3rd time in theaters last night, lol. I still love it. I think it's just the overall vibe and OST that keeps me coming back. I fuckin' love how dark the movie is in it's tone and how the creative team wasn't afraid to kill off like 95% of the cast, lol. A comment on YouTube compared Michael Myers to Oprah, 'You get a stab, and you get a stab, everyone gets stabbed!!"

Watching H2018 and Kills back to back is a great experience. Lots of subtle things that you'll notice in regard to characters and dialogue.

I think 2018 was a bit better in terms of making Michael more "scary." There was something about that movie that just gave the myth of him more weight for me. and HK was him just with no "filter" on being a killing machine.

I understand the criticism from a lot of people though. Everything else around the film is paper thin in terms of plot and relevance but I think by the end it works in terms of making the general ideas from 2018 work.

I might do a marathon of them all as I have never seen H20 which I always thought was a sequel to the original series but recently found its not?

H20 is a sequel to Halloween 2 1981, H20 retconned the Jamie Lloyd arc that was in 4-6.

Lots of people dump on H20 but I actually think it's one of the better films in the Halloween franchise. I guess your enjoyment might depend on how you view the bulk of the franchise. For me, I think most of the movies are pretty awful but fun to watch. So with something like H20, it's filmed well and entertaining and that's good enough for me.

On a side note, here are the various universes within Halloween

1. Halloween 1978, Halloween 2 1981, H20, Halloween Resurrection
2. Halloween 1978, Halloween 2 1981, Halloween 4, 5, 6
3. Halloween 1978, Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills
4. Halloween 3
5. Rob Zombie Movies.

lol, what a glorious clusterfuck this franchise is.

Thanks for that! I had no idea 2 was apart of the H20 timeline.

I will probbaly watch 1, 2, and H20 then go back for 3-6. I have never seen 3 and i know it doesn't count or whatever but I am curious.

I acutally liked that first Rob Zombie one for what it was. I think it was a bit too up its own ass for its own good but i hated the sequel.

I feel like Scream is the only Slasher franchise that has a story I like but even then I think its a stretch even in my own mind to call them good.

The music in H2O alone disqualifies it from being a good movie for me, not to mention how much it wants to be Scream, like what's the deal you're a new Halloween movie the ultimate slasher but you're pretending to be Scream? And I say this as no insult to that film I think Scream is great but you don't defer to movies that were inspired by you.

Very nice.

Halloween 3 is fucking awesome. It's got Tom Atkins in it! It's only been the last few years that people have come around to it. After Halloween 2, the producers wanted to make the Halloween franchise a different thing with each movie, the Michael Myers plot wasn't going to be pursued anymore. People initially hated Halloween 3 because it didn't have anything to do with the prior movies. So after 3, they brought Michael Myers in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and started the Jamie Lloyd story arc.

I love Scream as well, mostly 1 and 3, just fun popcorn horror movies. If you like that meta style narrative I highly recommend checking out Wes Craven's New Nightmare, it's a Freddy movie but takes place in the real world, it's like the character of Freddy is trying to gain access to our world. It's a cool concept and works really well, though you should probably watch the first Nightmare on Elm Street if you want the full effect that New Nightmare provides.

On a side note, a fun slasher that is somewhat overlooked, the My Bloody Valentine remake is totally worth checking out. Great kills, filmed well, has Tom Atkins in it, can be watched in old school 3D (Blu Ray), and has one of the most outrageous nude scenes in Hollywood history. This girl runs around completely nude for like 3-5 minutes, it's hilarious. She's friggin' hot too. It's super old school.

I had always heard 3 was a weird bastard child so I never got around to it but I will give it a go. That also explains why 4 is called the return of Michal Meyes...my dumbass just thought they ran out of ideas.

The OG Scream is in my personal top 10. Adore that movie. I like 2 and 3 for what they are but I would take 3 over 2. I think those movies get way too much hate as I think people miss a lot of the meta in them and don't understand they are supposed to be "worse" movies in a weird way. I also liked 4 way more than I thought I would. I dont understand that hate there either.

I have acyutally seen New Nightmare but its been so long I could probably watch it again and have no recollection. I'll add it to the list.

I have never seen the OG or remake of My Bloody Valentine so I will check those out too.
