God of War Ragnarök is the second-highest-rated new game of the year | VGC

God of War Ragnarök reviews have gone live and the PlayStation exclusive has been extremely well received by most critics.

At the time of publishing, the game has a score of 94 on review aggregation site Metacritic, making it the second-highest-rated new title of the year.

The game's score is only bettered by fellow 2022 release Elden Ring. FromSoftware's title has a Metascore of 96. Portal Companion Collection (96) and Persona 5 Royal (95) also place highly but are ports from previous years.

I always get screwed by pre-ordering a fiscal copy but I just did it again, I hope they'll at least ship it on release day.

What do you mean? Like you ordered it from Sony's direct site?

I made that mistake with Returnal last year. Sony's own fucking store, promising release date delivery for Plus members, got me the game 4 days after launch with no pre-order DLC 🤣

I didn't care about the DLC, but that's fucking pathetic. I've never ordered from them again.

I pre-ordered TLoU 2 Special edition from Amazon here in Brazil, it took them weeks to send me my copy, they didn't even have enought copies and still sold it anyway and they did not send the copies based on who pre-ordered first (I had the game pre-ordered since the first day it was availaible) they didn't even understand the concept of pre-order or why I was pissed. This time I ordered from another big store and I just hope that they send it on release.

I'm gonna be honest, as a gamer for, like, 36 years....i have not yet played any GoW games. I know the story, and seen gameplay second hand, as feiends played it a lot. But i don't know... always said i'll go at it later back in the ps2 gen, then came next gen...portable gen... and next gen again...and here yet again next gen 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Have the last one free with plus, and even haven't gotten to play it yet. But i will fam! This weekend i will work on GoW finally 🤣🤣🤣

Same with you.... first one was cool but never worthy of game of the year. I might be 1 or 2 hours away from finishing the first game but it was repetitive enough that everything I've seen of the sequel is nothing but retread.

There is no way of playing God of War and God of War 2 natively on PS4/PS5. Cloud only (already terrible) and my country has no PSNow anyway.

You'd think that with a new game releasing they would bother with it, but no, they don't care at all. This is the sort of stuff that pushes me to want to move on from consoles for good.

PS+ deluxe was a complete ripoff, I feel cheated of my money and with so little future games announced PS isn't looking like the best place to play at all, not even the best place to play PlayStation games.

I'm cursed by pre-orders, mine was saying they were going to deliver nov 18, so I canceled to buy on Amazon because it was showing an earlier estimate but now that I canceled the other one it changed to nov 22... fuck.

edit: Finally got a nov 11 date from Amazon after changing to the regular edition. :D
