Thread: Ghostbusters Afterlife Trailer 2
Hype Thread
Ghostbusters humor would pass today, tho, it's totally inoffensive. And no, not everything was PG, wtf, Ghostbusters was the second highest grossing film of 1984 behind Beverly Hills Cop which was rated R. That was also the year of the first PG-13 movie Red Dawn. Red Dawn DID release a few months after Ghostbusters but it's worth nothing Ghostbusters II was also PG, while not as good as the first it generally had the same kind of content in it.
And all those movies would be R today. Hell maybe even X in Red Dawns case for promoting Asian Hate.

No mainstream movie comedian today could pull off Ghostbusters. Who would you use ? Kevin Hart and the Rock ? I guess Paul Rudd but he is like 80 years old now lol.

I cant think of any funny actors that werent in their prime 10 or more years ago. Rogan ferrel reilly hill rudd ? I guess Chris Hemsworth is all I got because he was in back 2 back bombs of GB 2016 and MIB 4.

Is there any late 20s early 30s comedic male straight actors that arent from YouTube ? Let alone 5 of them ?

Bill Burr, Norm McDonald, Paul Rudd and Ernie Hudson.

Dan Aykroyd is a legend.

Little thread necro here, but I recently replayed Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

Been a while since I last played this and yeah, some gameplay elements do not hold up. But damn, it's still fun as hell and the fact that they got all the original actors to reprise their roles really helps (RIP Harold Ramis). And the game got what I loved so much about the film. The Ghostbusters aren't heroes or chosen ones fighting against the supernatural. They're exterminators performing a public service and their workmanlike approach to the job clashes with the horrors they encounter to hilarious effect.

And this is what worries me with the upcoming Afterlife. You can't have the same working schlubs busting ghosts premise with a bunch of kids. Hopefully the filmmakers can make it work but it has me worried.

Everything goes to hell when you add kids. Mortal Kombat for example. The Kombat kids all fucking suck

Remaining cautiously optimistic.

I do agree that the original was about the blue collar worker. Besides Winston says himself "If there is a steady paycheck I'll believe anything you want."

Not sure how making the kids main characters is going to end up working out.

I meant more that the line between r and pg was blurry back then. Heck Robocop and Rambo were marketed as kids toys in the 80s. 80s kids saw lots of blood boobs and violence.

Take GB crew form the 80s in their prime and transppant them today they would kill it because they were talented and funny. Find me someone as funny and talented as those guys today. Probably impossible. Can you name one superstar comedic actor ?

The last era was the Rudd Rogan Carell Ferrel Stiller era. After that comedy died. Its dead.

Aliens had kids toys l, too and RoboCop had to be edited down to avoid an x-rating. The 80s were way cooler. But there's nothing especially offensive about the film Ghostbusters there's no blood or anything like that no swearing it totally would still be PG today, the sequel was after the advent of PG-13, for instance.
