Thread: Ghostbusters Afterlife Trailer 2

Hope it's good. I don't mind the kids, just keep the feel of horror and comedy that made the first two films so fun to watch.

The 2016 abomination of a film forgot the horror part.

Yeah if they keep the feel and style of the originals it will go a long way in making the movie what it needs to be. The 2016 movie was an abomination in so many ways. The kids I think will be ok, towards the end I bet it will be a mix of kids and adults.

I will be hopeful, but that supermarket scene that exists solely to be a cartoon toy ad really rubs me the wrong way.

It also makes you feel old when kids are watching the old movie clips on youtube and it's like this weird old grandpa world to them, but you were a little kid when you saw it the first time lol

And the comedy. Ba dum tss!

Edit: Might be good. Will have to wait and see, I guess. Can't be worse than the 2016 abomination.

The rotting corpse at the diner gives me a little hope.

It was just a callback to the taxi driver you see for two seconds in the first movie. That's all this movie will be. Callbacks to tug on that rose tinted memory. With dumb kids added. I'm sure the girl that's supposed to be reminiscent of Egon is autistic and that'll be a major plot point.

Fuck this trash.

This will be the first Ghostbusters movie set in a little town. I imagine the location choice matters more than expected. The trailer is advertising callbacks, but the most interesting shots were the kids in the ghostbuster car slinging around town with a side gun chair.

Also wagons are cool. *dreams of hot rod dadwagon*

Looks lame. GhostBusters is not supposed to be some Speilberg family kids movie. This isn't ET.

Supposed to be crude dudes wanting to get laid, get paid, and do some geeky paranormal shit.

Paul Rudd will probably have a couple of good lines, but coming of age stories isn't what I want out of my Ghostbusters.

I will say it will most likely be better than GB 2016.

I see the horror is present in this one. Im the form of this fugly ass Stranger Things kid.

Seriously, apart from Millie the Stranger Things cast has the fugliest kids in the universe. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What were you hoping to see that would make it for you?

I don't necessarily like the kids becoming heroes angle. It's totally unbelievable to me that these nerd kids could suddenly safe the city.

I'm totally aware that I want the feeling back that the OG movies gave me, and that any new movie would have an extremely hard time loving up to those memories.

If it helps, these kids aren't really kids. The Stranger Things kid is the same age as Dan Akroyd in the first one.

During the trailer, they all seem to be kid/teen characters. I found weird grown men more believable as ghost busters.

Looks good and is one of my most anticipated movies but I don't think it will be able to reach the heights of the first two films where you had some of the best comedians ever in their prime. (And yes, the second film has some iconic moments.)

Dan Aykroyd was 31 when they made the first Ghostbusters. The Stranger Things kid is currently 18.

When @Stouffers has been drinking, you have to ignore what he says. Treat him like your grandpa on the recliner after he's had his 8th beer and is telling you about how he helped NASA land the rover on Mars.

But why Kids?

Wasn't the first one R rated? if not its at least an R in 90s 2000s times. 80's PG 13 was like later on R....

I guess the gender swap bombed so now the age swap.

The best chance for a good GB movie was the Judd Aptaow, Superbad time era.

Rogan, Ferrel, Reilly, Craig Robinson, and Jonah Hill (Rick Moranis role) all in their primes.

The first film is literally rated PG, lol. Judd Apatow humor doesn't fit Ghostbusters, neither do those actors. It's a very dry, subtle humor in the first film where the plot/horror are taken seriously for the most part.

Look at the little troll doll they got to play Egon's granddaughter. They probably paid her next to nothing and signed her up for a multi-movie deal for less than they will spend on the craft services while filming the things.

That is probably part of the reason to go with some kids. You can lock them in young and cheap and make it feel "family-friendly" to get 5 tickets sold at a time instead of 2 when the whole family fleet goes together. The Stranger Things kid probably could negotiate higher, but even then, it's like hey kid this is your introduction to being a movie star and not some streaming show star. So even he might be cheap, relatively speaking.

80's PG is still like modern day R. Everything was PG back then LOL.

And the comedy doesn't have to be exactly the same. and I didn't mean Apatow would write it, just during that era of comedies which IMO was the last good era of comedy. Those actors in their comedic prime would have probably been able to make a GB movie work.

Seeing what passes for comedy today, and what is a comedian movie star there is almost no chance to make a good GB film today.

Ghostbusters humor would pass today, tho, it's totally inoffensive. And no, not everything was PG, wtf, Ghostbusters was the second highest grossing film of 1984 behind Beverly Hills Cop which was rated R. That was also the year of the first PG-13 movie Red Dawn. Red Dawn DID release a few months after Ghostbusters but it's worth nothing Ghostbusters II was also PG, while not as good as the first it generally had the same kind of content in it.
