I did the same thing recently and even installed it on my phone so I could keep playing it out and about or reading more of the lore books in bed, and it really doesn't get enough credit for its world building. I didn't fully appreciate it playing it as a kid, but as poorly as some of the mechanics have aged, I have newfound admiration for the writing. I lament the thought of how much further downhill it's going to go with TES VI, but at least we'll have Skywind by then (maybe).

You know there's some good lore in Skyrim. The best lore is stuff you can actually find in the game that you would otherwise probably never find unless you read some of the books.

I dig the lore in Skyrim too, especially the whole Dwemer and Falmer side of things and their experiments, but my concern is more TES VI and what the state of the writing is going to be. Starfield destroyed what little faith I had left in Bethesda's writing ability, but hopefully they can get their shit together by then.

You've every right to doubt Bethesda. I have no confidence in what they will churn out for TES VI, and you can bet your bottom dollar that there'll be a copy of the epic romance story about two princes or some such bullshit in every corner and house in the game. It'll be the fabled romance that rekindles the hope of every downcast citizen of the land... surely.

"We feel like 'The Lusty Argonian Maid' was old, outdated, and not in line with modern sensibilities. So we have decided to instead replace all copies with the new and updated 'Thirsty Khajit Butler'. Please look forward to it."

Nah, the new Battlefront games are fantastic. The only complains I have is the addition of the Disney era (unavoidable, even though the maps are pretty good ngl) and the shitty singleplayer (easily forgettable). Apart from that they are far ahead of the old games. If they weren't I would have no issues with going back but I don't, apart from an occasional nostalgia trip once every two years or so I don't play them anymore, but the new ones I still do.

I like the new games too and still played them despite the launch drama, the meme just made me laugh 😅 I'm glad they're re-releasing the old games again though, even if the rose tinted glasses fall off after an evening.

You can play them right now, they are on Steam (nonremastered but the difference will be negligible) and join the dozen or so people playing it.

If this remaster somehow keeps around a 100k (or even 10k) players a month after release then I'm willing to accept I was wrong. But plenty of ppl say that Battlefront 2 is the GOAT despite nobody playing it right now.

I have it on Steam but the problem is it's tough to convince friends to play games on PC (I think Lethal Company was the last time I was able to twist enough arms for it, and that only lasted a weekend) so we generally just end up playing the new ones on PS5 when we get the itch, and why I'm looking forward to the re-release on it. It means I'll finally get to play them again in co-op/splitscreen but yeah, I'm expecting that to last as long as the nostalgia trip does.

The new games had such a great fountain but EA gonna EA and made core game suffer.

I am still a fan of the originals arcadey nature but God damn EA BF 2 was like being in the god damn clone wars.

Such a god damn shame.
