Thread: Forspoken Review Thread - Update: Patched and improved on PS5

From the reviews i've read (from reviewers who played the game). That's a small part of the opening and the rest of the game is quite natural.

again though, the state of modern reviews. An action game shouldn't be judged on a line of dialogue. How does it run, how does it play? is the world fun, is the game interesting?

bah, i'm an old man yelling at clouds.

Played the first 2 chapters early this morning. Had fun, but don't have obviously much to say this early.

Clowns : this game has bombed because the protag is a black woman! everyone is racist
Jokers: lol this game sucks because the protag is woke
Stuck in the middle: How does the game play?
Clowns and Jokers: REEEEEEE

The state of modern gaming
You're not wrong, but at the same time, the game has an emphasis on story and character development, with frequent and lengthy cutscenes.

One of the most reaching, overly sympathetic round-ups I've ever read, with the author (already known for pushing identity in front of more important things) relentlessly bringing the annoying, moany character's IDENTITY AS A CAPITAL-B-BLACK PERSON making up 90% of the round-up.

All these clowns projecting.
None of them seeing.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man truly is king.

The AAA space is a shit show right now. Is there anything at all coming out besides Starfield and BOTW2?
There are plenty of big games coming out in 2023 what are you talking about? If anything you should worry about Starfield itself not being an AAA shit show based on what was shown so far.

Imagine having to pretend that a shit game is actually good because of the race and gender of the main character.

I guess at least they will be able to blame poor sales on racism and sexism.

"Ramée said in his assessment of the game that Frey's identity isn't really acknowledged.

"Forspoken doesn't do anything to celebrate Frey as someone who is Black or a woman or anything else about her."

How dare a game doesn't do enough to celebrate the protagonists Blackness!

I would just like to point out the irony that this game might be propped up for its diverse representation, considering it has you playing as a young, foul-mouthed, homeless black woman in trouble with the law and abandoned at birth. Not saying that the protagonist can't have some tragedy linked to their being but when you start stacking one on top of another it starts to feel like the writers were trying too hard and I wouldn't be surprised if no one remembers or cares to replay the story in the years to come.

Well, I mean I literally asked the question, so obviously I don't know any of these big awesome AAA games coming out in 2023. Care to furnish me with some suggestions?

I'm only doing this because I love you guys, but I'm downloading the demo on PC to see how the port it. 3080rtx, i9 12900 32 gig ram.

Will do as well.

Steam reviews are already weird. 0.5h played, review saying "I love this game!"

OK. After 10 minutes of playing (that's all I can take) I can confirm that the game looks cleaner on my PC than on PS5. The game runs pretty smooth from I can see on "high" settings.

However, turning on Ray racing results in a rough frame rate (estimated 40s outside combat) this is with DLSS turned to balanced and vsync off. 1440p.

That's all I can take. I have never played a game with a more bitter, foul mouthed brat. It's already deleted.

You mean to tell me that an all-white progressive writing team created a black female protag and they made her a homeless criminal?

did you need rtx4080 to run at 1440p?

They originally wanted the character to be a scientist, but the voice actor they hired couldn't pronounce any of the words.

So they changed the script to just say, "Shit, shit, fuck, shit, fuck, fuck. Oh, hey! My trusty kicks!"
