The whole game is satirical social commentary. The real question is if it sacrifices a good story and good characters to push "tHe MesSsagE!"

Just watched the first episode.
It had some lengths, but all in all it was quite enjoyable.
It looks really bonkers. No idea how a tv series can look that good but Indiana Jones 5 was just a lame CGI mess.
4/5 so far for me.

Add me to the just watched the first episode club and pretty damn impressed. The production values are pretty nuts, Vault-Tec stuff was on point, and the Power Armor was suitably intimidating. It's got a camp vibe to it, however, at the same time it's surprisingly gory with adult overtones. I intended to settle into playing some Dragons Dogma II tonight as I caved and bought it, but I think I'm going to end up watching a bit more of this and save DDII for the weekend proper.
Bro they nailed it. Watch the first episode with the wife and I can say that everything.
Music, gear, environment etc is true to the game.

Half way through the first episode and it's actually really good. Not trying to get my hopes up though. I'm almost positive I can smell the lgbt crap incoming in some way. Probably about how oppressive it is for them in a survival situation where the traditional relationships are optimal.
But aside from that, holy cow they really nailed it so far. The slight campiness really fits. Can't wait to see if they have her take on mutations. Which is the only way I'll be able to take a woman overpowering tons of people in that situation seriously.

I've never played the games. But I'm fan of dystopian scifi.
The production is good and world is intriguing. But the story so far is uneven. There are moments that are intense then it becomes comical in next moment. The Ghoul and Lucy actors are good. Maximus is dumb and Brotherhood of Steel don't scare you!
The Lucy/Maximus dynamic feels like Rey/Finn. Ghoul is a badass best in show.

There is enough good stuff to keep me watching and the mystery of the world is keeping me watching. But could've been better.

They knew about Vault raiders. Why didn't they test or send emissary first before letting them in. Or use there handy wrist radioactive detector that they wear all the time or no detector by door. No one guarding their armory that the raiders immediately got a hold off

They easily beat him and could kill him, like they should in this world. But they don't. They opened his armor and Max wakes up and during fight they literally push him on the opened armor and he uses it to kill/fight them off

Amusingly, my wife had a similar thought when we watched Silo on Apple+. "If they've been underground for that long how is the population so diverse? Are they specifically breeding along racial lines? Why would they even do that?"
Anyway, nice to see gender identities survived the apocalypse. Because of course they did.

I got through ep. 2 last night. Its not bad so far. I like that Maximus is kind of a weasley character so far and kind of a bitch. The fight scene with the power armor was a bit goofy though. Kudos for making a physical suit but I hope they stick to more shooting and less fisticuffs with it because it just looks a bit wonky.
Definitely wasn't expecting to see Michael Rappaport in this show.

Maximus is an odd character! Not sure about weesley, thought he's just dumb and bumbling luck into things. But there are moments where he's can be badass and you think why he can't be like that whole time.
I just wrapped it up. I enjoyed it for what it was worth, enough to binge it. Given the setup, it has to read as a goofy campy fun versus 'srs bsnss'. However, I thought they managed to capture the right balance for the most part. Goggins was pretty awesome throughout, Ella Pernell did a decent job with her 'gosh darn it' attitude. Less sold on Maximus, but in truth, I think in large part I don't think they did a great job when it came to selling the Wasteland inhabitants versus the Vault Dwellers. Hopefully, assuming a second season they'll be able to flesh that side of things out further. Also, I have to say, the brother was the weirdest casting choice. I could envisage Lucy being Agent Cooper's Daughter, but that dude ...not so much. Anyway I thought they nailed the spirit of Fallout pretty well, the real question is whether the general public love it. I do feel like some of the more gratuitous gore early on could well put people off.

I noticed and said out loud the same thing yesterday. My friend said "why do you think so", and I explained to him that such a small amount of people interbreeding would lead to them looking all very similar after a few generations.
I have a good friend, whose father is a black guy from Chicago and his mom is a blond German woman. My friend is quite mixed, but clearly still African looking. My friend married a blonde German woman and their daughter is just a blonde German girl. Her hair that's a bit curly might give you some hints, but otherwise that German blonde Valkyre gene bolted through.
And that was just two generations.
I mean I only watched 2 episodes
There some plot holes and the biggest grievance I have is how the FUCK MAX killed a Yao Guai with one shot of a 10 mm pistol.

That fix is worst. But I never saw Lucy from behind in the show to notice. Thought she was pretty good and her performance really sold the character. Lucy and The Ghoul are the bast characters in the show!

There's a Brotherhood of Steel... Person? Thought it was a girl but she appears to be rocking a moustache. No doubt a they/them. I've only seen the first episode mind, so I'm sure there's bound to be a stunning and brave reveal somewhere.
So it a brief scene with a non binary woman man (can't tell) and they refer her him it as they.
But everything else so far is tamed and good

I don't know what to tell you, in Fallout 3 I dumped more than a mag from an AK47 into a Yao Guai's head, and it still killed me. Should the exact videogame weapon balancing be portrayed 1:1 on screen? Would it serve the show better?
I think so. The purpose it showcase that the wasteland is unforgiving.
And the mutant bears are a large part of that ecosystem. I wish they made it more terrifying to be honest. Because in the video game. I was not gonna go up against one unless I was stacked
Nothing declarative, and certainly not enough to give this a hard pass Bonk as it is pretty damn good.
Anyway series is chock full of Fallout references

I'm three episodes in, the wife dipped out after the second. It's not bad, but it's aggressively mediocre. There are some very questionable choices that could have been much better if it was just slightly changed. A couple examples...
Other than the occasional annoyance in dialogue or acting, it's a decent show. Walton Goggins is carrying and the Maximus character is fucking awful.
Edit: Yeah, I'm out. Tracking a Ghoul through the wasteland because of his radiation when almost everything in the wastelands is irradiated is fucking dumb. And wouldn't you know it, it worked! Amazing. Fuck you, show.
When Benjamin Linus from Lost runs away with the dog, the turret completely missed the both of them despite having a good 10 seconds of firing time. This looked goofy as hell. Having the turret spin up to create tension as he ran and then decimating the corner of the building allowing him to get clear just as it opened fire would have been a better alternative.
The Ghoul taking Benjamin Linus from Lost's dog seemed like a pretty good idea to get the dog to track its former owner for him. The show doesn't address this at all, nor does it show the dog tracking at any point. It just looks like he takes the dog for no reason allowing the audience to assume his motive. My wife thought he just felt bad for the dog, I assumed he wanted to follow it. Which of us is right? Don't know, doesn't matter I guess.

The radiation tracking was what got you? Not the big plothole in episode 1. Which after watching episode 8 makes it worst!

Vault 31,32,33 - dwellers can get reassign housing between them. But Vault 31 only for cryo freezing only leader allowed. Vault 33 apparently was so populous after the raiders came and killed a bunch. Where are the children? Or mixed population
