Capcom has announced dinosaur-themed team-based action game Exoprimal for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). It will launch in 2023.

It's 2040 and the planet is in crisis. Dinosaurs are appearing from thin air and laying waste to cities across the globe. Threatened by history's deadliest creatures, the world turns to the powerful Aibius Corporation and its revolutionary technology for help. The company's next-generation AI, Leviathan, can forecast where dinosaur outbreaks will occur and deploy Exofighters to the area. Armed with state-of-the-art mechanized combat armor known as Exosuits, these warriors represent humanity's last hope.

Exoprimal pioneers a new multiplayer experience rooted in co-op – but with a competitive edge. In the game's main mode, Dino Survival, teams fight for every breath against countless dinosaurs while racing to complete missions before rival squads in five-versus-five matches. A dynamic mix of objectives keeps players on their guard and ensures each match is different form the last. Exofighters will need to stay on their toes as hunts transition into precious cargo deliveries or desperate last stands against relentless assaults. Opposing teams are even given opportunities to tackle adversaries head-on and impede their progress. While Exoprimal is purely focused around multiplayer, a narrative is interwoven throughout the game. Players can sink their teeth into the world's rich history and colorful characters by unlocking new story threads and piecing together the mystery behind the dinosaur outbreaks.

Exofighters are always outnumbered and must work together to overcome overwhelming odds. Their Exosuits come in an array of classes, each playing a distinct role in combat. Assault models like the marksman Deadeye and the melee-oriented Zephyr excel at cutting down enemy swarms. Meanwhile, tanks such as the shield-bearing Roadblock and support types like the vital Witchdoctor help keep everyone alive to fight another day. Every model is outfitted with a unique armory and special abilities. Players can even swap between Exosuits on the fly to overcome any situation, no matter how dire.

Not sure how I feel about this one. It looks dumb, but possible fun despite that. It also gave me F2P vibes as it looked to be 4+ player online co-op.

Capcom are a weird bunch. They drop very well received single player games that do very respectable numbers, but then they follow it up with a shit online game that doesn't do half as well. Every time.

RE2R
RE3R, but instead of making it even better than 2 the bundled…
Resistance
RE8, huge release for them met with all sorts of praise, then…
REverse

They have a formula they could use if they want as GAAS, and that's Outbreak. Update it to use the RE engine and you can keep that going for a while.

New IPs are good, but to me it feels like a waste to use it on an online game. I am biased, though.

New IPs are good, but when there has been constant noise about Dino Crisis for this long it shows that people aren't done with the old one. Having said that, they also have RE4R in the works so it could easily just be just be a case of pushing old as well as new to keep it balanced. They also have REverse in the works as well though, so who knows what they're thinking.

Monster Hunter.

CAPCOM has been trying to replicate the faithful Monster Hunter fandom in their other franchises / new franchises for awhile. Consider that World is their best-selling game of all time (20+ million), the expansion (Iceborne) is right up there with another few millions, and MH Rise is around 10 million.

So I'd expect them to keep trying to copypasta that formula onto other games for many years to come.

Yeah this looks really insane but in a fun way, I don't know if it will actually catch on in the mainstream, probably not, but if executed right it could be a pretty fun co-op experience.

It's like a mix between Anthem and EDF. Hopefully it takes the best parts from both and leaves out much of the jank. I'll certainly give it a try, especially if it comes to gamepass.

The trailer for Capcom's upcoming dinosaur-based action game, which aired during last week's State of Play presentation, caused a number of players to wonder what, if any, connection the game had to the publisher's classic Dino Crisis titles.

Although it's still not yet known Exoprimal is set in the same universe, we do now at least know that Hiroyuki Kobayashi – who was co-designer on the first Dino Crisis and produced Dino Crisis 2 and 3 – will be involved.

Kobayashi recently tweeted that he was "deeply involved" in a new title, then proceeded to list all the series he'd worked on in the past, including Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry and Dragon's Dogma.

At the bottom of the list is Exoprimal, suggesting that Kobayashi is involved in its development.

A recent developer overview video on the game confirmed that Exoprimal is being by Takuro Hiraoka and produced by Ichiro Kiyokawa, so it's not yet clear what Kobayashi's role is.

As expected

They actually managed to make dino slaying boring.

Should have redone Dino Crisis especially after with how well the Resident Evil remakes have done, and there being a resurgence in remaking stuff in the horror genre with stuff like Dead Space remake, Silent Hill 2 Remake, System Shock Remake, Alone in the Dark Remake, a very likely Resident Evil 5 Remake and potental Evil Within 3 (Hi-Fi Rush easter egg). Dino Crisis remakes would be potential slam-dunks and yet Capcom decided to leave the court mid jump, turn 180 degrees and leave to play Cricket with a C tier multiplayer game instead. Baffling.

Surprised nothing on rebooting F.E.A.R.
Also that there has been no attempt at a modern Jurassic Park third person horror game, though the park simulators are always welcome and a Operation Genesis Remake would be amazing.

IGN and Gamespot have been so kind not to review the game right away stating bullshit reasons to allow poor fucks to get suckered into a shitty game.

I actually like this. It definitely takes a little while to get used to it and understand the flow.

At first I wasn't a big fan but it has grown on me the more I play it. I've been playing with my brothers and nephew.

I think the game got a raw deal because PvE people don't like the PvP aspect at the end and PvP mostly ignored it because it looked like a PvE game in all the marketing.

Game grows on you, I recommend giving it a chance if you have gamepass

Check out gameplay from Exoprimal's upcoming second season, which features a variety of wild emotes and a Street Fighter crossover event (including a high-kicking Chun-Li mech), launching on Xbox and Game Pass on October 18.
