Thread: Elon Musk Says That Steam Games Could Be Coming to Tesla Vehicles Soon (Update: Now available)
I like Tesla but this is getting ridiculous and all the manufacturers are starting to do more of this.

I thought it was cool when I was younger because it hadn't been done before. Playing a console or watching tv in the backseat of a flipping CAR seemed like the bees knees till I got older and saw how badly being "plugged in" all the time is ruining society by making people more and more disconnected from the real world. It's bad enough having everyone glued to their phones when " going outside." My wife saw a mother in a coffee shop the other day that was so glued to her phone screen watching tick tock or Instagram or something that she didn't even notice her child fall out of the booster seat. People are less aware of what is going on in their immediate surroundings than ever before and it's scary.

Soon...

Don't worry guys Elon will backtrack from this like 2 weeks later and say that games are to expensive
And offer to buy Steam only than to backtrack again and than get sue by Steam

If we're talking about some rear seat entertainment stuff with screens and integrated Steam support, that would be pretty cool.

for now it gives people something to do while charging the car and waiting in line to charge car. In the future it is for when the cars are fully autonomous and this is the reason for the development hours. Elon is a advocate for something to do while the car drives themselves.

I know Elon was hoping the cars would be fully autonomous this year but I doubt they make the deadline. Even if they do there is a lot of red tape they will need to get through.

Fully autonomous cars scare the shit out of me , call me old school but if I'm going to die in a fiery crash I want it to be my own stupidity not some computer that glitches out.

I won't say I trust the AI more today than I do humans but I don't think we're all that far from the day when we can turn it over to a computer that I trust way more than people. Humans are so fucking stupid. Like honestly, legitimately stupid. They can't see a big picture for the most part and can't think outside of themselves at all. They should not be in control of these death pods.

An AI system that controls every car on the road would not only take away 99.9% of the car crash problems we have today, but would actually let the cars drive fast as fuck safely. It'd know what cars will be in your route when you arrive on the freeway before you've even gotten there because it'd be tracking and controlling the trajectory and path of everyone. Imagine your car merging you onto the freeway at 120mph because it knew exactly how to slot you in. And you were annoyed with the sunlight and turned on the light blocker and never even saw any of it while playing Steam games on the screen.

Sounds great in theory but another point is the possibility of hacking a all autonomous always online vehicle. You know people will take advantage of any possibility to hijack your car for money by just flat out stealing them with no real potential to get caught in person. IDK man I just see more problems than solutions.
I might be in the minority but I actually enjoy driving

Similarly I enjoy driving, and while hacking is an issue, centralised control is a bigger one with that vision. Big brother will know exactly where I've been, and will know who I saw because the other people will have gone to the same place. Big brother will be able to direct my car to a place of their choosing to prevent me doing something they don't like. Big brother will be able to engineer a crash to get rid of people they don't like. Another step towards tyranny. No thanks.

I would rather focus on something I need to be doing. Like seriously places like this and discord are enough of a distraction from reality why do I need to be constantly plugged into it?

I'm not interested because I have severe motion sickness and I can't even look at a phone while inside a car but it's interesting from a technical standpoint. If I could maybe I would start actually liking cars. I know it's a paradox, I adore arcade racers but I don't like simulators and I don't enjoy driving in real life. lol

But no issues just driving and riding right?

Funny story, I used to work at one of the big automobile companies (up to last year), it starts with F.

I threw up in one of their vehicles at an event. It later became this legendary story and all countries knew about the guy who threw up inside a new car at an event. They had to do some serious washing to save it. lmao

"That's the new Ford Clown Fiesta over there!"

So can the passengers play games while driving or what? It's cool but should better be part of a rear seat entertainment system I think.
