Reminds me of Erdrick's cave. I wonder if they updated the game to the Erdrick trilogy in HD-2D?

Hopefully more to come in June during Nintendo's direct or a Square Enix showcase.

That's why I found it weird that they omitted the 3 even more.
 
Small update on Dragon Quest XII from Yuji Horii:

"Thank you so much to everyone for the many [Dragon Quest Day] congratulations! There has been some worry about Dragon Quest XII, but I was actually in a meeting until just a bit ago. While I can't share any details yet, I want it to be something worthy of the posthumous work of the two [Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama] who passed away. I'll do my best!"

Nice to see III and XII still being worked on.

If still no actual footage or release dates for Dragon Quest Day, especially when Final Fantasy XVI and VII: Rebirth have both released freeing up the main marketing cycle then I expect 2024 earliest for Trilogy HD-2D Remake 2025 earliest for Dragon Quest XII as some rumors say. Fuck.

Really hoping they are not going full action/darker, Game of Thrones for XII. All they had to do was refine XIs foundation and systems, add job/vocation rotation and maybe male/female character select.

They still have not specified exactly what that means. Still same information that we had 3 years ago on XIIs plot and mechanics which is literally next to nothing.

Dragon Quest series already had plenty of darkness, the opening of 11 starts with a human Kingdom being genocided by a army of demons. You get any darker you start approaching the dead worlds of Demon Souls/Dark Souls/Elden Ring.

It's 1000% DQ3. Erdrick's emblem and the HD-2D logo and with the knowledge that it's been in the works for a while now via said trailer a few years ago.

EDIT: The more I dwell on it, I think this will be the entire trilogy of my namesake... Which would be utter perfection.

Yuji Horii said the traditional command battle system would be revamped or rebuilt, and on the story that players will make decisions determining their way of life. It'll probably be a little darker, targeting an adult audience but the same audience that grew up with Dragon Quest, not people who play Souls games and watch HBO.
