Finally watched Goonies recently. Thought it sucked. 80s kid movie like Ghostbusters.

Face Off hold up just by having two great performances.

Goonies! Just a fun adventure flick that speaks to the novelty of youth. Plus its hilarious and highly quotable.



Plus it gave us this treasure...






Face Off is a pretty terrible film. It has a couple cool ideas (like the oil rig prison!) and some entertaining gunplay.
Oh and it has a foxy Gina Gershon

But its overall a mess of a film that is a rental at best.

So what is so appealing about The Goonies? It looks like Indiana Jones with kids from the trailer. It also sort of reminds me of Labyrinth with the mix of adventure and reality.

It's the adventure all of us experienced in our childhood, except that didn't happen. But the movie nonetheless gives us that feeling. Similar to "Stand By Me, although Goonies is more plot-driven.
