Napolean Dynamite is funny as hell and was a mass appeal success. But RT was a fucking cinematic masterpiece. Even though the Life Aquatic is my favorite Wes Anderson film, RT IS peak Wes Anderson film making. Every character is worthwhile and filled with obtuse depth (and well cast). There are probably a dozen subplots happening in the film. Each entertaining and meaningful. The dialog is fast, witty and orthogonal (its what later Anderson films are trying to replicate). The shots are beautiful throughout and paired with incredibly fitting music. In fact I bought this one on BluRay a few months back and was in awe at how much more the colors of the scenes popped in HD than they did on my DVD copy.

You should check them out. Both will make you laugh. They both feature very oddball characters. Royal Tenenbaums will have you laughing with them (and maybe feeling something) and Napoleon Dynamite will have you laughing at them.
Wes Anderson movies haven't been good until Grand Budapest Hotel where he finally allowed actors to act instead of play dummies in his doll house.

RT all the way. :Laughed a lot at ND, but it's not a film I have revisited, where as I've probably seen RT 20-30 times over the years.
