Hello and welcome to the 2nd Round of the DPAD Top Movies Face/Off series! 🧐

The two movies facing off today are:

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
YmRBLmpwZw

Goodfellas (1990)

The Two Towers has the most climactic ending of all 3. But most of the movie is hobbits crawling around some forests. Extended Edition doesn't add much and has scenes with unfinished effects.

Goodfellas is peak Scorcese, only matched by Wolf of Wall Street.

I was a bit busy today and so didn't do a writeup on The Two Towers, but I'll just say that it was my favourite of the trilogy, it was the first M rated movie I ever saw and the Battle of Helms deep was an awesome battle.

MFW The Two Towers loses but Fellowship of the Ring moves forward:

Wolf of Wall Street is extremely overrated.

Isn't there like a 50 minute battle scene in The Two Towers? You're not wrong though, it's very difficult to vote against Goodfellas. A masterpiece. I forgot like 95% of The Two Towers the movie but right now I'm reading the book and it's great. I just barely like extremely vaguely remember the battle at Helm's Deep and I think Frodo is in that battle, as is Sam... But in the book I don't think they were

It's a big battle with a long buildup. It's different from Return of the King where the whole movie is a battle. Frodo isn't in it.

It's a tough break tbh, The Two Towers could have won against many other movies, but went against Goodfellas. Arguably a top five film of all time

Isn't Goodfellas basically just the Godfather but in a shorter timeframe? I don't really know where the plot could go to be honest.

The Godfather has way more power than anyone in Goodfellas I would say. You can't really compare the two even though they're both mafia flicks. Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci kill it, their best work by a mile
