I've never seen or read Death Note but that is probably one of the oddest yet intriguing game styles I've seen in a long time.
Would it be worth playing for someone who's never seen it?
I'm sure it would, but you would just lack the backstory behind it all.
It's my favorite anime, I re-watch it at least once a year. I believe the English dub is available on Netflix, and the subtitled version is on Freevee and Tubi.
Highly recommend watching, 20 min eps. If you watch the 1st 3 eps you would have most of the needed backstory.
Thanks, I'll check it out. Think it's kid friendly enough for an 8 year old? The game looks like a boardgame version of Among Us and I dig it.
Finally had a chance to play after the craziness of the past few days
Did the 4 tutorials and the practice run, decided to jump into a rando room.
Man were they fucking into the investigating shit. I was the Kira follower and in the 2st round I was able to steal an ID and pass it off to Kira so he could kill them but a god damn npc gave one the investigators a crucial clue and these mofos were deducing shit like they were Columbo in the next phase. They all accused me and I got "arrested" for a round so I was basically out of play. Kira was able to still cause enough chaos to get our meter super high. If the investigators made 1 mistake we could have won, but they figured out who Kira was.
Pretty fun experience, game was fast enough paced. Will play a lot more this weekend.
This seems to be a social deduction game akin to Among Us, does it have that sort of vibe?

I probably wouldn't recommend it for an 8 year old. It's a little bit more mature than your standard anime but no where near as gruesome as Attack on Titan. Since none of my kids are 8 years old yet, though, I may be underestimating 8 year olds.
