Another pc console port with issues. Surprise surprise.

The PC port wasn't bad to begin with and after the patches, is very solid. The console versions had issues as well and aren't perfect. The VRS made the PS5 version look horrible for example.

From my experience, PC had a shader compilation stutter issue or something, with the game sometimes going into low fps mode. Reloading a checkpoint fixed it quickly. Then there was the VRS, which looked bad but not nearly as bad as on PS5. Both issues got fixed with a patch some days after release.

With the latest patch, I don't have any big issues. There's some weird noise on certain light reflections and DLSS has some crazy ghosting in some scenes. Nothing huge in my experience. Playing at native 1440p maxed out I had great performance and visuals overall.

- Short stutters when traversing doors. Can be distracting, wasn't a big issue in my playthrough. It happened often, but a small hitch didn't ruin it for me.
- Apparently the shader compilation is flawed.
- Some scenes run slower the first time you play them.
- Changing settings can cause stutters, better restart the game.
- FSR fucks up in game displays in the game world, making them unreadable, also issues with particle effects.
- DLSS offers a more stable image than FSR or native with TAA.
- DLSS and FSR shouldn't be used because they screw up texture quality. Can be fixed on Nvidia cards with the Nvidia Inspector, but screws up the ingame menus, making them flicker.
- VRS is useless because it only offers a very small performance boost.
- Dynamic res is better and recommended.
- Lighting medium to high is exactly the same.
- Screen Space Reflections are generally very low res and grainy.
- RTAO is rather cheap and improved the visuals significantly.
- Sometimes the game dumps some GB of data into the VRAM, like in one cutscene, causing severe stutter that continues into gameplay.
- This causes a 10GB 3080 having VRAM issues at 4k.
- He missed the DLSS ghosting that I've seen.

Did all you guys finish it? Anyone still playing it?

Yeah boi, don't think I'll get the platinum though. Potentially will do a speed run to get the plasma cutter only and NG+ trophies, but impossible mode seems, well, impossible.

I'm on my new game + playthrough trying to get all weapons upgraded. I think I left off at Chapter 9 or so. I havent had much of a chance to play for the last week or so though.

I was thinking about going NG+ because the game just feels so good to play. Decided to work on my backlog from hell instead.

Im going through on hard and it definitely feels a bit easier so far since I get to keep my upgraded weapons and suits. Also just having a better knowledge of where enemies come from.

Chapter 10 and 11 is where the shit started hitting the fan for me though so we'll see how it goes. The mf'ing phantom necros are bullet sponges though.

Are you gonna address the weak hole allegations!?

Nearing the end of my new game+ run through and I've missed two marker fragments. Its the two furthest to the right on the table. Anyone know of a guide that tells you which marker fragments fit into which position on the table? Ive already gone back to two spots that I don't remember collecting and they aren't there. Trying to avoid depleting all of my ammo and health running around for no reason.

Oh that sucks. I've only seen videos where they put all markers on the table at the same time. And guides with marker 1, marker 2 etc. but I don't know how they correspond to the positions on the table, unfortunately.

The weapon node upgrade being "capacity" as #1 is misleading. Capacity is the jump off point, and damage upgrade was normally 3 deep in the upgrade tree.

Completed my new game+ hard difficulty run through. Got all weapon upgrades and the alternate ending.

This game might be an early contender for GOTY for me. Its just a great game. I will definitely come back in the future to do a plasma cutter run through but probably wont attempt impossible mode (yes I know you can fudge the 'no deaths' rule).

I wish there was something more to do in the game but I feel like I've pretty much exhausted it for now. I am really hoping that DS2 gets a similar treatment or I would even be open to a completely alternate DS2 that goes in a totally new direction for the series.

EA Motive did some excellent work here but they were definitely standing on the shoulders of Viceral. Hopefully they have the chops to continue the series.

Would like to see a DS2 Remake as well, but don't think it's even planned yet, EA Motives is currently working on an Iron Man Game.

So I tried playing this at launch, but had issues with keybinding where, things like Sprint, and something else (i forget), would simply change back to its default after you changed it.

Also, I've seen a lot of complaints of bugged missions because of critical items that never spawned in.

I decided to leave it for awhile until they patched it up.

Can anyone advise if these issues have been addressed?

I played it with the latest patch and it was an extremely polished experience for me without any issues like that. I'd say it's pretty safe to jump in.

I've finally got round to starting this. I feel like my setup was made for this game. A 77 inch oled with HDR, looks amazing on this game. Inky blacks and bright HDR lights all over the ship, amongst the darkness. The 5.1 surround setup converted to 5.1.2 Atmos works really nicely (make sure the volume is up).

Isaacs wife looks a little rough, compared to his shipmate... but whatever he's not exactly a stud either. The early game has thrown a lot of enemies at me, which I'm destroying fairly easily albeit very entertainingly. I do like it tells me the way to go, when ever I want. It's a nice refreshing change from learning level layouts and allows me to focus on the action.

Very positive start IMO.

Did they patch it out?
