Thread: Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster |OT| I've covered culture wars, ya know
Official Thread
Once again, im good with saving money.

The funny thing is I wasn't even that excited for it, it was an ok it might be fun to get eventually. So damn easy to pass on games when i find out they fucked with it too much.

Paper Mario Ttyd remake was the last straw for me… going to buy very few remakes/remasters from now on.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Deep Dive Confirms You Can Turn Off the Revamped HUD, Confirms Item Durability Bar, and More

Dead Rising fans, you'll hear a familiar song if you watch the deep dive.

Capcom has shared a new gameplay deep dive into Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, confirming that players can turn off the revamped HUD, confirming there will be an indicator for item durability, and more.

In a new video uploaded onto YouTube, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster director Ryosuke Murai and producer Kei Morimoto play through roughly 11 minutes of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The gameplay shown in early segments of the duo shows off some familiar gameplay mechanics, along with some new changes exclusive to the upcoming remaster.

Among the biggest changes the duo revealed is that players can turn off the revamped heads-up display (HUD) available in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. "[T] here's an option to make it disappear after a while," Murai revealed during the deep dive. "o If you think the UI gets in the way, you can just use that."

As gameplay before today's deep dive revealed, the upcoming remaster has significantly changed the HUD, providing a more minimalistic approach. Nevertheless, the HUD could still pose as a distracting indicator for those who want to see everything on the screen without any obstructions.

Two additional details in the gameplay deep dive revealed that items now include a durability bar. Unlike the original game, where you have to figure out how many hits you could use non-firearm before it broke, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster displays a small blue durability bar below the weapon to determine how much mileage it has before it breaks. Using item durability can potentially be a new defensive tactic for players when facing enemies with guns, as you can use some items, such as a barrel, to block gunfire.

More importantly, Capcom has finally confirmed that the licensed music from the first game is back in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. As IGN previously reported, Capcom confirmed licensed music was returning, and at the 7:55 mark of the deep dive, the footage shows Frank West in Leisure Park at night fighting the convicts.

Fans of the original Dead Rising are likely familiar with the Lifeseeker song Gone Guru, which will play every time you encounter this particular enemy. Of course, if you are a content creator planning to play Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and fear getting a copyright strike, the deep dive revealed a setting that removes the licensed background music (BGM).

Another significant tidbit in the deep dive is Capcom revealing Otis Washington's voice. Fans of the series, particularly the first game, will know that Otis Washington was one of many NPCs who never got a voice actor despite the fact that you regularly interacted with him via calls received on the transceiver.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is Capcom's second remaster of the 2006 game. Powered by the RE Engine, It introduces new facial expressions, realistic lighting, and more details for in-game environments. It also includes previously confirmed quality-of-life improvements, such as the ability to move while aiming, and improved survivor AI.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is out on September 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Yeah no thanks.

Who is this even for? The woke love taking naughty pictures and putting them on OnlyFans considering how "empowering" it is.

Saw this coming. Even if its the woke abominations at work, I'm not surprised that Japan would remove it too. The frequency and rise of perverts snapping photos of real women in Japan has become a talked about issue in their government. I can see it being uncomfortable even there.

Lame to take it away out of the remaster, I'd still like to try the remaster though and as long as og Dead Rising is available for purchased, I'm disappointed but not turned off.

It's not like I even engaged much with this particular system but it is still shit to see wholesale removal of mechanics such as this, having an updated version of this game fully intact was just too much to ask for I guess. I don't really get this puritanical thing that is sweeping games at the moment, though as @NBinted pointed out, Japan does have its fair share of perverts, so the minority ruining it for the majority.

I doubt we'll see something added in place of it either.

So we're paying more for less content. Good work Capcom.

Call me boring and old fashioned, but I'm not exactly cut up about the lack of "erotic photography" in a game. I'm not attracted to polygons and photography in games is boring so there's really nothing in it for me.

I never took photos it's just the culmination of all the edits that points in a clear and obvious direction that is upsetting. And what's worse is Dead Rising is tame goofy fun but they just had to change shit to appease "those people".

Also, Dead Rising 2 originally had playboy covers in the mall all over the place. They were removed from later versions but that may have had more to do with copyright shit as we weren't in this shitty era yet.

You know what game kept it's pinup collections?

The Mafia 1, 2 and 3 remakes.

They hold up pretty well, though I haven't played 3 in the remake series, because Sony hasn't offered it for PS+ monthly downloads like the other two.

really.....a Japanese developer did this??....from my travels they are probably the most racist country i have been too
as long as they dont start slippling in the ol pro-nouns into the bios ill be happy

It's such a weird time for gaming. I absolutely LOVE seeing old classics or even just quirky, obscure titles get remakes or remasters. It's a new lease on life for some of them, a chance for them to reach a new audience, and a chance to make meaningful, quality of life improvements. Hell, I've seen games I didn't like (Odin Sphere on the PS2) come back as remakes that I then ended up loving (Odinsphere: Leifthrasir on the PS4).

Unfortunately, there is always the threat of them being "modernized" which either means fucking with the gameplay in some way or inserting woke bullshit or censorship. Not to mention obnoxious, licensing/copyright issues (see upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw remaster as an example)

It's a double edged sword.

Remakes are NEVER better than orignal games. Ever. The originals are alwyas better. With or without censoring. Remakes are lazy cash grabs

Debatable, Yakuza 1 English version or even the original Japanese version is a novel one playthrough, but I'd rather replay Kiwami 1.

I can only really think of Spyro and Crash, which were AFAIK near enough 1:1 remakes and benefited from no longer being on PS1.

But general I agree. I don't think RE1/2/3/4 are better than the originals. 2-4 were more reimaginings than remakes so straying is more accepted because they're trying something new.

But it's when the original stops being sold that gets in the way. That's why I bought the original - anything PS2 onwards, especially PS3 onwards, can easily get away without having a remake. A bit of up-res is usually fine enough.

Also I love Twin Snakes I don't give a shit what anyone says.

But yeah remakes and remasters over the last couple years have been mega AIDS
