Community Prayer Request Thread

Prayer-image.jpg

I could use some prayer. I searched and couldn't find a similar thread so I figured I'd make this an official prayer request thread for everyone who is inclined to post their prayer requests. Please don't comment if you aren't down to pray. You can criticize our beliefs elsewhere.

My requests...

1. My mother called me last night to let me know she's in the hospital. She woke up having severe chest pain and pain in both her arms. She's a nurse practitioner so she knows the signs of heart attack. They are checking her out now and have ruled out everything except for blood clots... She was fully vaxxed. Please pray for recovery and that the clots disappear. I'm also trying to talk her out of taking any further shots...

2 My uncle who was fully vaxxed is in the hospital with Delta and in worsening condition. He has high functioning downs syndrome. They are thinking about putting him on a ventilator. They are treating him with Remdesivir but we'd like them to use HCQ, Ivermectin, zinc and an IV of vitamin C but unfortunately it's out of our hands... He's one of the happiest people you'd ever meet, smiling all the time even when working hard. And I can't be there for him because of these freaking restrictions. Pray for recovery but also pray for peace for him while he's alone.

I pray for you and your loved ones.
Life is strange but this thread comes at the perfect time, just learned today both my elderly parents have covid, talked to them both today and while both are feeling pretty crappy ( more Flu like symptoms than anything , cough, loss of appetite, tired ) they can use all the help they can get.
They went overseas back home to get away from all this craziness for a few months but you just never know when shit happens.

Well, my brother just got a mandatory Navy flu shot and started to lose feeling and articulation in his arm. We're thinking it's Guillain–Barré syndrome. He also got the mandatory Covid shot which also has a chance to cause this so this would make 3 shots in a row... He understands the risk and wouldn't be taking them at all if it weren't mandatory. He just doesn't want to leave his position because he feels like it's his duty as an RP to be there for his chaplain and brothers. Plus, he doesn't have anything to fall back on and had plans for the benefits.

Please pray for him.

He's in the ER right now and they're trying to figure out what the cause was. They had to try 5 times to get the IV started for some reason.

I told him to ask if he can have some sort of exemption from the shots if he's high risk of adverse effects. I hope he pushes hard for that. If they don't give it to him I'm gonna try to talk him into leaving... This is gonna be hard.

Feels weird making a request right now what with all that's going on around the world. But I could really use the prayer.

I've had a heart attack. It's the same thing I had twice in a row when I was a teenager. What I have is called Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

Basically, a short circuit in my hearts electrical pathways causes tachycardia.

Thursday night I was at arm wrestling practice and after one of my sessions on the table, taking it easy because I just got over being sick which caused my back to flame up, I went over to get a water. Well, our water is in a little mini fridge on the floor so I had to bend over. I bent over and as soon as I stood back up I knew something was wrong. I tried all the things I knew to do like slapping my chest, breathing in and bearing down, laying on my back with my feet up, but it just wasn't stopping.

It got pretty freaking fast but more than that, it was beating HARD. My teammates called my wife to let her know what was going on as she had just dropped me off and was spending some time in town and she said she wasn't far away so she'd be right there. My heart finally started to not beat so hard but it was still very fast and by this time it started to hurt pretty bad. When she arrived I felt it down shift a bit and it stayed there but it was still really fast but smooth and steady.

So she took me to the hospital and helped me in, the nurses waved me over to the registration booth in the ER and as I was clutching my chest the first thing she had the gall to say was, "Here's some masks for you guys!..." I closed my eyes and clenched my fists and growled with gritted teeth, "My arm is going numb, I need help NOW!" I made my way to the doors but thankfully it seems like the intake nurse was the only Covid moron working there as a nurse burst through the doors and snatched me up and brought me into the ER. (found out later she saw me clutching my chest on the cameras.)

My heart at that time was fluctuating ~190bpm. Which means that back at arm-wrestling it was much higher. But I told them what they did in the past to stop it so they gave me a shot of... Crap the name escapes me rn... stuff that feels like fire and makes it feel like my muscles are contracting all over my body. Which caused my heart to contract and disrupt the arrhythmia. The pain immediately stopped and I felt normal again.

Anyway, they did tons of tests and found me in perfect health. Even the cardiologist said that my heart looked in amazing shape for my age in every other way other than the short circuit. He recommended an ablation surgery. Which I'll probably have next week. Best he can guess is that one of the nodes that got burned off during my previous ablations may have grown back. Or there was one they missed that wasn't very active at all and would only very rarely trigger.

The beds where absolutely horrible and completely wrecked my back, I'm even in a brace right now because of it. But the day and a half in the hospital was at least amusing with everyone asking me about arm wrestling and nearly every nurse and doctor on the entire floor checking in on me because they wanted to meet a pro arm wrestler lol.

Anybody that's read anything about me in the health and fitness thread knows that I'm an arm-wrestler and have been training for the MI state tourney specifically for over a year now. Yeah, well, that won't be happening anymore as I'll need to recover. But after the ablation I should be good to go. I should also be able to make some of the local tourneys later this year so not all is lost. Just pray I don't lose too much progress from this... And also that I survive.

One of the reasons I'm asking for prayer is for me to stay calm and have peace of mind. Last time this happened when I was a teenager, it took two surgeries for them to get all of it. So I'd rather not have that floating over my head. I also, thank God that this didn't happen last year when I had the issues with the overdose and the out of control anxiety attacks. I was perfectly cool calm and collected during all of this. Just made my peace with God and went with it. If it was my time then it was my time. But you can never know when it's your time so I also always fight with all I have. My family needs me. And speaking of which, pray that all their needs will be taken care of and that they'll be safe while I'm down and out.

So, I'll be taking it easy around here and will prob just troll post to keep my spirits high for a while.

Little update:

Some good news - through the ER cardiologist, we just recently found the best electrophysiologist surgeon in my state to do an ablation procedure which should take care of it. But on top of that, unlike when I had my heart attacks as a kid, they now know to look out for several other things that it could be and all of it is discoverable through the study during the surgery. And they're just better equipped to find the short circuits in the first place so hopefully I'll be completely out of the woods this time with nothing to hold me back.

I should know any day now when the surgery will be. Hoping to still be able to go to the Michigan state tourney on April 3rd just to support my friends. I'll let you all know when I find out.

Surgery has been confirmed for next Wednesday, the 23rd.

Not gonna lie, getting a little anxious. Not because of my heart so much, but the procedure. Don't know if any of you have ever had an ablation, but they can't put you under for it, they have to keep you awake. They just numb you and make you "So groggy that you won't even remember". However, the last time I had one the pain medication didn't work and I felt everything and remember it all, both times. I spoke to the surgeon about it and he said a good anesthesiologist would avoid that and that's why he tries very hard to use good ones... But unfortunately there's a bad shortage of them atm... So pray that I get a good one.

Anybody having surgery would get pretty anxious especially anything dealing with the heart, will say a little prayer for you tomorrow in church. Hoping for a fast and complete recovery. 🙏

I have personally witnessed miracles performed by the Lord in the past and this year, I have personally experienced a profound miracle no doubt made possible by God.

Just wanted to say this, if anyone here has anything in life at all that you think needs to be prayed for then I will gladly pray. I'm a sinner, but the Lord is merciful. When I and my family would have lost, and lost much, the Lord graciously forwent, and saved. Restored.

I saw this thread long ago. But at the time, I didn't know as strongly what prayer can do. It changes lives. Our Father is omnipotent.

After reading Franky's post, I think I have a prayer request for anyone that is interested.

A couple of weeks ago my sister Sarah was cleaning for a rental inspection and one of the door frames fell on her head. Luckily she was able to go to the hospital on the day and she was able to get some help for the next 2 weeks so she could recover easier.

While she is now only having minimal dizziness spells and can go 6 hours at a time without needing rest, I would just ask if anyone interested could pray that she doesn't have any long term brain damage. While the doctor didn't seem too fussed on the follow up visit, I am just worried about her not functioning at 100% while trying to look after an almost 2 year old son. There is already enough suffering in the world and I just hope that their young family will be able to do their best.

Will do @Mickmrly hope she's doing better and makes a full recovery.

Wish I remembered this thread a while ago as my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year ( one reason I haven't been on here as much posting ) moved in with her to take care of her and was pretty rough going for months thankfully she had surgery and is now having her last radiation treatment monday and so far making a full recovery ❤️
Would be very welcomed to say a little prayer on her behalf as she has some neuropathy in her legs that may or may not go away but is still much better not back to 100% but getting there.
It was just a joy to have her at the head of the table this Thanksgiving 🙏

So much has happened since my heart surgery and recovery that I forgot to give my update.

First, I wanna thank you all for your prayers! I swear there are times when I stop what I'm doing and I just know someone is praying for me right then and there.

Anyway, I know I said that we had found a heart specialist to do the surgery through the cardiologist that was on staff at the hospital I ended up at, but I forgot to add that finding him was a small miracle. First off, I had my heart attack out of town during an arm wrestling practice. So I was at a hospital that I otherwise wouldn't have been at. This is when I had asked for prayer here and also called my Uncle who runs one of the largest non syndicated Christian radio stations in the US and they also put me on the prayer list they read on air in Arizona. (trying to cover my bases haha)

The cardiologist came to my room and started talking to me just as they were about to send me home after getting me stabilized. During the conversation which was about arm wrestling and other things as well as my previous surgeries and my fears of them not finding all the issues again, I felt the urge to ask if he knew of any good surgeons. He looked me in the eyes and asked if I was serious, I said absolutely. He said he knew the best electrophysiologist surgeon for all of Indiana and even the surrounding states. Gave me his info but said it might take a while to get in if I even can because he's usually booked solid. He then stressed that this is a procedure that can't wait so I need to take what I can get.

He left and the nurse came in with a wide eyed look on her face. She said in all the years he's been there, she's never once seen him come in after his shift ended and talk with the patients.

The next day my wife starts making calls to see if she can get me in with the surgeon. The first time she called she told them she wanted to make an appointment but didn't know how long the wait would be since they're usually booked for so long. The lady on the other line was surprised and said this is our lucky day because she hadn't even set the phone down yet from her other call which was a cancelation and that they could get me in almost immediately.

This was the best experience I ever had in the hospital. Except for accidentally groping the boob of an old nurse as I was coming out of anesthesia... And some other things I totally don't remember doing or saying that my wife loves to retell to acquaintances whenever the topic comes up haha.

Anyway, fast forward to today and I can push myself harder than ever. No more palpitations or uneven heartbeat. I'm growing stronger in armwrestling and will compete in the pro class at Michigan State next year. I feel like what I can only imagine is the difference between a Doge Neon and a Ferrari. My anxiety even plummeted. No more heavy feeling in my chest.

So thank you guys. And thank God. I've been watching this thread and will be praying for whoever posts even if I'm busy and or forgetful and don't comment.

EDIT: Also, both my mother and my uncle are doing just fine in case anyone was wondering.
