i always loved the Genisis sound chip.....Moonwalker was the magnum opus
Snes did have pretty impressive range but hardly any bass at all...favourite music in a game was Castlevania

The music in Moonwalker hits different, the arcade version as well. I've been meaning to post some of it.

I think you're spot on with the analysis as well. Snes sound had more range in dynamics/frequency and a lot more warmth. The Genesis though had more low end and its got a lot of edge/hits harder. It's interesting to hear how the same pieces of music sounded different over the 2 systems.

Had this game as a kid way before the LOTR craze in the 2000s, my parents were fans and my dad picked it up. Pretty crappy game, but the title theme is one of the best pieces of VGM ever. Listen the whole way through, it's worth it.

I dig that lotr soundtrack. I do have a lil thing for the game....while crappy yes it has this bleak feeling that I enjoyed

Etrian Odyssey 4. Probably my favorite in the series. I think I want to replay it since I only played it once when it came out (close to 15 years ago), but man 60 hours is a daunting task.

Didn't see these 2 when browsing through the thread. A lot of FF6 and Chrono Trigger love but these are 2 of my favorites which haven't been posted yet

FF6 Veldt. I love the drums and melody

Chrono Trigger 600 A.D. Always love plucking this melody out on a piano. People ask me "what is that?" and I tell them it's from some weeb anime shit

I know I said I won't watch the trailer, but when I came across the music video I couldn't resist giving it a listen, and it's fucking beautiful already. We're in for another amazing experience with this sequel.

I think of this theme when I'm at work, briefing my staff before service.

Man... I'd buy Suikoden 3-5 (And Tactics) again if Konami wants to port them to modern systems. If it gets me a 6th game proper that actually is set in the same universe. (Not that Tierkreis nonsense.)

Konami slept on this series basically for 20 years, so I'm glad that they may be trying again with it. Everyone should play them if they have any fondness for JRPGS.

I have been out of the loop these past couple months with new game trailers but I love to listen to Woodkid and Hideo Kojima usually cuts together a good game trailer (except for the OD teaser; as the Bri'ish would say, utter bollocks).

I listen to his track "Goliath" every now and then.

Haven't played Mario Paint in years. Listening to this for the first time in God knows how long and it's got such a great arrangement. Some dirty ass jazz vibes

EDIT: Don't know if I ever made it to this level. I don't think I ever beat the game. The SNES mouse was pretty shit tbh. But what a track!
