Blizzard announced on Wednesday that hopes to bring the event back in 2021 have also been dashed by the "ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic".

However, a hybrid event mixing the formula of February 2021's BlizzConline "with smaller in-person gatherings" will be held in early 2022.

But what will happen to the reveals of all the huge new games by Blizzard? All the announcements?

Living in Nashville, TN, the only thing I can tell you about the "complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic" is that you can't find a parking space when you go downtown. The pandemic is over, by and large. Shit's opening up pretty much everywhere so I can't help but think this isn't the reason, but an excuse.

Yeah. My first reaction to the thread was, 'People are still excited about Blizzard games?'

We're a long way off from the fervor of peak WoW, D3, and early Overwatch.

A convenient excuse that'll save them a lot of money and effort. Not surprised by this at all, especially when they don't have anything WoW related to share. Updates on Diablo lV and Overwatch 2 weren't going to be enough.

Good. I am sorry for those who liked going... but this is for your own good. Now if we can just get confirmation of no ComicCon.

Those types of events simply fleece people out of money in exchange for cheap trinkets and false sense of inclusion. Kinda like those Disney 5k runs.
People use them as meetups with friends and family to do something they all enjoy together.

I used to have a circuit of Cons I'd attend every summer from 2013-2017 it was E3, RTX, and PAX Prime. I loved it.
