Good to hear about the sharpening tone down, was too much for me.

Mate I absolutely love super sampling, played Dead Space 1 at 4K with 4xSGSSAA + TrSSAA and it was so fucking clean, I didn't manage to take any proper screenshots... well I took plenty but Steam was set to trash quality screenshots so not worth looking at compared to what I saw unfortunately 😥 lesson learned.

I did take some decent ones of Dead Space 2 DSR'd from 8K to 4K, I believe I could've gotten better overall IQ from GeDoSaTo but I couldn't be get it working on DS2 for some reason. SGSSAA from nvidia profile inspector doesn't really work with DS2, you either get weird white outlines on things, broken shadows or blurry IQ: pick your poison. So I went with DSR instead. DS2 has fantastic contrast/gamma/presentation so it already looked so nice at 4K, but 8K to 4K was like "stop and stare at the screen for 30 seconds at a time"-amazing. Aided greatly by my Sony ZD9 of course :p

Can't truly capture how good it looked in stills, for example the burning train station was so brilliant looking, the detail in the displays and the way the little burning fires looked just... awesome.

I'm more excited to get a new GPU just so I can do that to old games like Just Cause 3 or Batman: Arkham Knight rather than actually to play modern games at 60fps lol

I played Dead Space 2 as well, but in 5k and 144fps. Looked great tbh.

@IrishWhiskey I'm going to bust your balls again. Jagged Alliance 3 is another example of my hate boner, maybe you can spot the difference in the vegetation in the center of the picture... and everywhere else :D

Watch on YouTube, in Fullscreen mode. 1440p, zoomed in a bit because of bad YouTube quality, but the shimmering with FSR is so strong that it's distracting even without the zoom. Also, sharpening. The reflection shimmering is also not there in DLSS.

I will always prefer to lock to a lower fps than to reduce image quality by as much as performance-level DL upscaling does, even the Quality tier DLSS personally most of the time is still a noticeable difference enough for me to not use it. I can get used to a lower fps (min 30 obviously) as long as its consistent, its not like switch to 60fps and motion clarity means you can appreciate the art in motion anyway, you still have to stop the camera at which point the IQ is never going to be as good as native res when its making up that much data, however close.

I really notice small differences in the image and even though obviously its better than rendering from a lower resolution for IQ and especially anti-aliasing, I think once we move to 8K then I'll care less because the starting resolution will be 4K or more so it'll look clean as fuck regardless... though then I'll have an 85" 8K display so will notice the difference again AHHH it never ends lol

Early 2025 timeframe is normal for a while now isn't it? The flagship comes out at end of year, ie 2016, 2018 2020, 2022, 2024 and then 80 and 70 tier from December to the following year.

I'm not sure I cant wait that long tbh, I think I'll crack and buy a 4080 Ti before then, I'm on a GTX 1080 and its getting impossible to play at even 1656p@30fps with optimised settings, need to drop to 1440p or drop settings and then I'd just rather wait to play it in full glory. Its why I'm liking my PS5, its usually a much better experience in the 30fps modes.

I watched a ton of comparisons and analysis, also checked out games with FSR2 and I was surprised how bad it actually is in most cases. Huge issues with transparencies, alpha effects and vegetation, particles, ghosting. Even at 4k. Check out this God of War comparison, it's nuts (watch on youtube fullscreen). @IrishWhiskey I expect a written apology and a bottle of your best whiskey send to my home address. Every week. This beef is very serious and will go on forever.
