Thread: Better Call Saul - Season 6 Teaser Trailer
Interesting stuff in this episode. A bit slow-moving, but we are in all the timelines at once haha

Interesting reveal that Saul is basically the driving force behind Heisenberg joining the ranks.

I guess they are pulling it together. Saul re-emerging with Gene. TBF to Brian Cranston, he still looks the same, however, Aaron Paul just looked a bit weird (i guess they did some de-ageing) and his voice is way less whiny now than when he did Breaking Bad, which was a bit weird. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping that's the extent of any more flashbacks of those two if I'm honest.

Yeah, I don't really like the last few episodes. They should have ended it with the one where Kim left. They are ok episodes, but they feel more like codas rather than story conclusions. This whole season has been a bit meh. And very very slow.

I still find it interesting to see what's going on in the pre and post BB timeline, but yeah I can't say a shorter, tighter season wouldn't have been better. But I'm enjoying it still.

All caught up. I agree the Kim thing seemed rather abrupt.
No way she doesn't show up one final time imo.

Allegedly there's more Walt/Jesse but unsure how credible that is.

Agree, while I think they could have tightened some things up this season, I disagree with the notion that this season hasn't been good. Some awesome stuff here; just odd structure. I guess we'll have to see what they do with the last two.

Even multiple seasons ago, I was starting to get pulled out of the moment just a little bit with how ridiculous some of the plans and events were getting. But damn I love the more subtle aspects of the writing and character development so much that I could overlook it.

It's just things like Lalo doing a batman jump into the ceiling tiles in complete silence to emerge on the safe side of security glass and kill a random ginger kid that were starting to feel cartoonish. And some of Jimmy's plans.

The Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe is coming to end, according to co-showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould.

Gilligan and Gould, speaking on the show's final virtual TCA panel, said that they have no plans to add another show to the AMC shared universe, although cautioned "never say never".

"You can't keep putting all your money on red 21. I feel like we probably pushed it doing a spinoff to Breaking Bad [but] I could not be more happy with the results. Then I did El Camino and I'm very proud of that too. But I think I'm starting to sense you've got to know when to leave the party, you don't want to be the guy with a lampshade on your head," Gilligan said.

"I don't have any plans right now to do anything more in this universe. I know I probably gave the same answer at the end of Breaking Bad. I gotta prove to myself that I got something else in me. I'm not a one trick pony, that's what I'm hoping.

Better Call Saul is concluding on August 15 after six seasons and 63 episodes, on top of 62 episodes of Breaking Bad and its spin-off movie.

The comments come after Deadline revealed that Gilligan is preparing to take out his next project; a series more in the vein of The X-Files and The Twilight Zone.

Gould added that 127 hours is a "lot of time". "That's a big investment to ask for an audience and it's unique… how dramas are going to get that much time. I couldn't be happier or more proud of the work. but like Vince, I think I want to try there are some things I wanted to try," he said. "Having said that, I love Albuquerque. I love Bob I love Rhea, I love Vince, love the whole group so we'll keep as much of the band together as we can and also, never say never, who knows how we're going to feel in a couple of years."

Good to hear. I have much love for BB & BCS but am happy to see that universe come to an end (I was worried we were going to maybe get a 'the further adventures of Jessie' show tbh), however, buoyed to hear that Gilligan and co have something new lined up.

Word is that the new show harkens back to Gilligan's tenure on The X-Files. But don't expect a sci-fi drama — when he was a writer-producer on The X-Files, Gilligan was known for focusing more on the human condition in his episodes, which is something he is said to also be doing in his new series, exploring similar themes of bending reality while holding a mirror to humanity.

Described as a blended, grounded genre drama, the new series also is being compared to The Twilight Zone. It is said to be set in our world while putting a tweak on it, focusing on people and exploring the human condition in an unexpected, surprising way.

Thought-provoking but not a morality tale, the new show is expected to carry the signature Gilligan tone that infuses drama with humor.

Like he often does with his original creations, Gilligan has written material that is accompanying the pitch, giving buyers a sense of what the new project would look like. I hear it is envisioned to play over a couple of seasons with an overreaching story arc.

The amount of work that went into that Gameboy video is incredible!

Also after so many series have ended terribly it's nice to finally have a fitting ending. What an incredible show from beginning to end. A rarity these days!

I kind of enjoyed it as to how it wrapped. Jimmy doing the right thing and taking the heat off Kim, though at the same time I did enjoy the way he was able to pay the DA to the extent that it seemed like he could have breezed his way through a fairly short prison sentence. Good to see flashbacks to key moments and recognise the change.

If I wasn't an idiot, I'd have made an open spoilers discussion thread the second this half season started up. We could have really done a deep dive without having to worry about what is or isn't a spoiler.

Ah well, maybe next time some groundbreaking modern show is airing....since those are so plentiful these days...

Sometimes I'll watch those kinds of videos but I usually let it digest for at least a few days internally first.

This was just done so well. Jimmy pulled out two back to back magic tricks at the end of this one.

That very final shot at the end is just so piercing. It's like the reality of the situation hits the viewer and the character at the same time and all in a one second moment.

I know this is an old thread, however I just finished the Season 6 Blu-Ray. I am satisfied with how they ended Saul's journey. I'm sure repeating the twists and turns of how Season 6 played out is old news, but I went into this with as much of a black out as I could muster.

The biggest hitch in this being a prequel is if you watch the series from how the timeline plays out, it is hard to ignore how aged everyone is vs. Breaking Bad. The writing still held up to the finale and watching Saul use his powers to get one over on the Superstar DA into being his sleezy and slimey self in lock up was satisfying. He is a cad, a ham, and a corrupt piece of donkey shit, but the characters arc is as interesting as Walter White's was. Sad to see everyone around these two get hit with either bad luck, corruption and their own demons as one would never be able to escape it unless you attempt to leave it all behind in a new life.

Even then, it seems like you will be pulled back in. Great job on Kim Wexler's arc as well and I was impressed that they brought Carol Burnett for a role she absolutely knocked out of the park..as minimal as her role was.

Burnett was awesome

Lalo so far is the best part imo
I just wish they didn't turn him into Batman, jumping up through a ceiling tile in complete silence and getting to the other side of a protective wall...

I love this show and it's firmly in my top 10, but it had some moments like that when I was just like oh no guys you're pushing this past the brink of believability

S6E1 was really good. S6E2 was about as cold as it gets, so many tense and disgustingly criminal moments. Gus was wicked in this episode, utterly cruel and opportunistic. But Kim was the most sickening character to witness in this episode. She made the Kettlemans cry and even Jimmy was left speechless. Seeing that side of her come out was almost too much to even take in. Jimmy might be repulsed by her after that, I sure was. The Kettlemans are annoying, and low crooks, but man… come on, Kim made them feel like they don't even have a place on this earth. She really had zero mercy. Was very hard to watch

It's important setup for her character arc. She's more repulsed by it than Jimmy is. I can't say much more without spoiling it but she feels bad about how she treated the Kettlemans.
