Thread: Best game you've never beaten?
A ton of games, I have a bad habit of dropping games right in the last moments. My answer here will be Final Fantasy 7. It's by no means my favorite game in the series, but I dropped it right at the final dungeon. I was likely less than 30 minutes from beating the game.
This was the case for me and Child of Light. Got right near the ending but couldn't locate the final boss 😂 so I dropped it and an embarrassingly long time has passed ever since I touched that game

For me, I think it's mostly that beating so many games is just anticlimactic. At that point, the story is told and beating it's just a formality at that point. None of the bosses in FF7 were very difficult (aside from emerald and ruby). FF7 (and many other games) are just not that interesting in the last moments and I mostly just lose interest.

so many games.

Basically every Zelda game except OoT (which for some reason I've beat multiple
Times)

Never bear FF6 (though have beat everyone from 7 on not counting MMOs)

RE1 and 2

Xenosaga ep1

I don't know what is wrong with me, all those games I put tons of hours into, enjoyed greatly, but never finished.

The two Nioh games.

Put like 100h into each, doing all side missions and exploration, digging deep. But in both games, very close to the end, I got tired. There are no new enemy types, it's the same over and over and it just drags towards the end, at that point I've seen everything the games have to offer.

Love both games, best combat out there, just incredible.

Final Fantasy Tactics tops the list for me. I really enjoyed my time with it, as well as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, but never did make it to the end. Still, I always felt it was worthy of its praise and would like to revisit it someday.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is another one. I loved its presentation, music, and the battles were addicting.

My wife and I started a Divinity 2 co-op game last year and probably got 2/3 of the way through. I'm not sure what happened to make us stop, but neither of us have mentioned jumping back in.

Haha, holy shit. We did the same exact thing with BG3 recently. No idea why we stopped playing, but we haven't touched it in months.

You sound like me

Too often i get distracted by life or other games. Rarely beat anything tbh

Life is an eternal backlog

I try to finish all the games.

Killzone 2: Never finished the single player campaign once I started with the MP, it was just so much more fun than the SP.

The Last of Us: I started it 2-3 times and every time I stop playing somewhere after the first boss fight. Don't know why because I love end time settings but for whatever reason this game doesn't click with me.

Zelda twilight princess: I bought the Wii first day for it and it sucked and I didn't like it at all. Stopped and never returned. Maybe I should give it a second chance.

Zelda totk: I have to finish this but all the distractions have burnt me out. Have to focus on the main dungeons and make it to the end.

Just Cause 2 on the PS Triple, playing that game when I was a kid felt like I won the jackpot with how much shit to do there was in the game, and indeed I never finished it, just like every other kid playing any GTA-ish open world game at that time.

Now I wonder if the game is indeed as massive as I remember or if I simply exaggerated its scale back then, I have it on Steam now and I'm looking to replay it and find out soon.

Sekiro. I've done multiple playthroughs all ending at the final boss. Killer the optional Beast too lol.

Cult of the Lamb I also dropped at the last boss. My village is maxed out, there's nothing to do in it but occasionally replace an dead member to meet the prerequisite for the boss gate (should be one-time unlock), the loops that was once fed into each other so well breaks down and feels like a complete chore at the termination.

Tears of the Kingdom. If I had one game to play on a desert island, it could happily be TOTK. But alas, I am not.
In a sense, the moment to moment gameplay is so good and the progression is so front-loaded in the beginning, it starts to function more as a toy than a game.
If I had it digital rather than physical I probably would have finished I already lol.

OP said best games. Loved the pun though ;)
