With support for 128 players, Battlefield 2042 brings unprecedented scale on vast battlegrounds across the globe. Players will take on several massive experiences, from updated multiplayer modes like Conquest and Breakthrough to the all-new Hazard Zone.

Key Features

  • Battle Through Epic, Changing Battlegrounds – Battlefield 2042 introduces seven vast maps for up to 128 players. From Seoul's cities to Egypt's deserts, every map offers a unique experience based on the natural environment.
  • Employ A Cutting-edge Arsenal – Customize weapons, gadgets and vehicles in-battle to tip the scales in your favor. Summon a robotic dog built for battle, employ a grappling hook or don your very own wingsuit.
  • Choosing and Equipping Your Specialist – Choose your role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield's four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait—but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable.

In Battlefield 2042, the world is on the brink. Shortages of food, energy and clean water have led to dozens of failed nations, creating the greatest refugee crisis in human history.

Among these Non-Patriated, or No-Pats, are families, farmers, engineers – and even soldiers. Amidst this crisis, the United States and Russia draw the world into an all-out war. No-Pat Specialists join both sides, not fighting for a flag, but for the future of the Non-Patriated in this new world.

At its core, 2042 will feature three game modes. All-Out Warfare is described as the next generation of fan-favourite modes Conquest and Breakthrough, featuring "the largest maps ever" for the franchise and support for up to 128 players.

Experience the intensity of All-Out Warfare in large-scale battles like never before on maps filled with dynamic weather, dangerous environmental hazards and spectacular world events that see tornadoes rip across the map and sandstorms block out the sun

First... they overestimate my attention span. Not waiting 5 days for gameplay. By then I'll be knee deep in other announcements.

Second what intern/tft wrote those key features? I mean I know EA has low standards on that stuff (I use to write it for them lol) but did no one proof read it even?

Third, more season pass bs? Talk about peeing in the bath water before you even get in the tub.

They must have a lot of confidence in this game. Let's see if that faith is correct.

Cool..ish trailer I guess but this company has completely lost touch of what it's fans want from a Battlefield game or at least what I always wanted from a Battlefield game.

I just really wish they would go back to the Battlefield 3 formula and just try to make a cool semi-realistic war game with cool short trailers. Stop trying to embrace the zaniness parts of your game like jumping out of jets to shoot an RPG or Jihad Jeep. This is not why I fell in love with this series.

I was legit excited for this but I think I am going to pass or wait for sales.

This trailer just reeked of "This is not a toxic masculine game, see! It's never been about realism! It's alll just fun and zaniness!"

I'm not watching that shit but it sounds good.

This is the result of a brainstorming session on the topic of "how to have 110% diversity but avoid backlash". It's a decent diet Tom Clancy idea, much better than the bullshit they were selling in previous games.

What's funny is that other stupid purple website is going batshit crazy for this trailer, despite the fact that like 80% of them will probably not even play or buy this game because they are all a bunch of manchildren who obsess over cartoons games instead.

Yet DICE seems to believe this is their core audience.

I craughed. They are doubling down on the "BF moments" aspect of it, which could be good in the short term but I feel they are painting themselves into a corner, you can only escalate absurbity so much before you run out of ideas.

One thing that stood out to me in the trailer was how it makes out the soldiers to be kind of like unimportant pawns more than ever before, obviously trailers for war-related games have often focused on the sudden loss of life but it was always in a tragic way.

With this its more like a big over the top sports event which is an unsettling depiction of war to me. Like "Oops those guys didnt maaaaake it" *clown horn noise*. Truthfully I dont know how to express what I mean, but the tone of it just feels off.

I'm not sure you are the audience anymore, and I'm very sorry to say that.

It's probably true. I am not. During the Battlefield 3 days. I practically ate, drank, breathed that game for many years. Played BF4 for awhile too, but haven't gone back since as it just kept straying further and further from what I thought was so fun about it.

Not to detract from this thread either but Gaijin Entertainment does some amazing trailers for their game War Thunder. DICE should really take note.

I am hearing they're skipping the campaign (which traditionally sucked ass) in favor of bot support, which hasn't been a thing in Battlefield since the Refractor days. That's something I think is a good trend, though I wonder if it's offline bot support or if it's still online only.

Because the entire point of bots is so a game can still be played after it ends official support. I can still play Battlefield 2 (still the best Battlefield game) and Enemy Territory Quake Wars (which is better than any Battlefield) to this day, despite both being delisted and out of print. Shit, I can even play Brink, which means Brink will outlast a lot of current, successful multiplayer games in terms of playability. Every multiplayer FPS game should have some form of bot support IMO.

Some nice nods to previous games, RendeZook, Damavand, 4 reveal. A better trailer then 5, but really didn't show much of anything other then the maps and vehicles. Will wait for gameplay reveal before making to harsh a judgment.

The only thing I really care about games like this is what sort of guns and vehicles I can use to blow shit up.

Though given this is going near future, they might have a bunch of futurized Sci Fi guns, which if I'm gonna play with Sci Fi guns, I much rather play Crysis, Quake or Doom, tbh.

Yup

seems cool, but BF had never really been my thing and this trailer didn't really show me anything that's making me change my mind. a few thoughts. Russia? really? the logical side should had been China, but of course, EA wants to sell this in China, so we're not going to make China look bad in any way. after that, the eject out of jet and rocket the another fighter jet only to climb back in thing, I know it's a thing in older BF, but really? you're putting that in the trailer? there's also that "ambush" scene which I feel like yelling "who the hell would put themselves in that kinda position all cramped up inside those containers getting shoot at? and finally, that tornado, does that mean there's some kinda weather controlling weapon for area denial and what not like the older bombing and what not? anyway, it looks interesting, and hopefully gameplay is good. but it's probably not for me.

Yeah the tone was very "fortnite" which is saying a lot when you look at past battlefield entries.

I mean of course it looks awesome. DICE does make amazing looking games. And on Next GEN and beefy PC this thing is probably going to look/sound insane.

The tornado looks like BS and I can already see how it will be f'n annoying. Maps looked crazy.

It sounds like they are doing what I wanted them to do with the bigger maps and the "zones". It sounds a bit like BF 1 and BF V mix of operations modes. Though big maps, but I think only 7 is interesting.

Now I am wondering what last gen is going to be like because I am still rocking a PS4. Its pretty much impossible to get PS5 or XSX, I don't have a 4K TV. I can see myself getting tempted in picking up a Series S and this game. EA don't have a streaming service for this? Or will it be on Stadia?

Of course we will have people complaining over nothing. It became more of a hobby at this point

I'd take this over the garbage boring WW setting where all people use the same three guns thank you :ROFLMAO:

Glad this isn't in 2578 though, I don't dig the too futuristic stuff.

Not sure how I feel about this one? Put thousands of hours into battlefield and had to take a time out when V released. What a piece of shit that game was.

Battlefield 2 had China as the enemy, though, which was nice. Certainly let me blow off some steam given I'm Chinese and my family has suffered under the CCP.
