Do you guys really need five threads to talk shit about the game? You guys have no intention to pick up and play the game you can keep your critiques in the review thread or the hate thread.
This is not about fragility or Trump. It's about discussion being dominated by a choir of people only interested in complaining over "DEI" and attacking everyone who wishes to check the game for himself (and learn that grifters were full of shit as usual).
The same choir of people is surprisingly fragile when they are being confronted with the fact. Lacking any self awareness they begin to think they being oppressed and that they are surrounded by Biden voters. Lol.

Definitely looking forward to trying it out. Honestly seems like impressions so far are pretty positive across the board with some exceptions. Doesn't really seem like a Veilguard situation where new and insane shit was being discovered every day.

I played a couple of hours more today and I'm still hooked. I had a big laugh when Kai said "I got plenty of reach". Nice inside joke for Mass Effect fans. The story is engaging, the characters are well written and the voice acting is too notch. The gameplay and combat are great as well.
I'm only four hours in but I haven't seen anything woke and believe me I will call it out if I see it. I haven't met any non-binary character or anyone being referred with the pronoun "they". Maybe there are some but I haven't found them yet. I also haven't met any gay or lesbian characters. Obviously I haven't played any of the Pillars of Eternity games but if those games had gay characters then this game having them can't be characterized as "woke". I also saw someone saying 90% of characters in the game are black which is a blatant lie. The female characters are also prettier than The Outer Worlds, there are some ugly ones but it's an improvement.
All and all I'm having a blast playing Avowed. It's up there with some of Obsidian best works.

I was going to ask if I needed to play the other pillars of eternity games but it appears you can go in fresh. The more I see of the game the more interesting it looks honestly, though there's a fee things stopping me.
1) Kingdom Come Deliverance II has got my full attention right now
2) I'd have to play Avowed on my gaming laptop and ew. I don't wanna.

Every major release has its criticisms. Every mainstream title will have people saying "nah that looks lame to me". If the game's main draw is the writing and world building then folks will gripe if they find those elements off putting. I can't remember the last time I had an online discussion about a Kojima game that didn't also have a healthy dose of hate and mockery, and somehow I enjoyed the game just fine.
Play your RPG and praise it and then move on to the next game.

I honestly haven't followed anything about this game until release, and I've just been watching some videos. Is this a Veilguard style wokefest or something? Pronouns and top scars and shit. Everyone said Kingdom Come II was a wokefest but I haven't come across anything yet in 23 or so hours. No pronouns or pulling barvs or top surgery scars or trannies. The game is huge though, who knows what I'll stumble across, I know a black guy talks later though.
P.S. - is avowed coming to ps5 or what

In that case, simply look past the negative comments. A game with woke content is always going to generate a series of raging dumpster fires. That's just how that goes may boy. Always does always will. But there's nothing the mods or anyone on any site can do about it, it'll always be that way but I'll choose to digress on that topic unless somebody quotes and ask why. Best advice is to just look past the comments and play on. Some people cannot look past the negative comments, so they want to silence the negative stigma instead of people freely talk about what they think about the game.
The sensitive subject is "DEI". Some people in here hates that games gets ruined by DEI, some people thinks DEI is fine and therefore should not be talked about at all, as the only thing that should not be possible to criticize, according to them.

I kickstarted the first Pillars and Pillars 2 is one of my all-time favorite RPGs, long before Avowed was a twinkle in Microsoft's eye. Why shouldn't I express myself if I perceive that a game is taking the franchise in a bad direction? Why am I not entitled to voice that without being called a hater?
You seem to enjoy the game. Doesn't it bother you that the hateful loudmouth devs have alienated customers and potentially cost the studio a chance to make a sequel? If you're such a big fan, you'd want more of these games right. So if the consequences of DEI cultists is that you don't get to play Avowed 2 because it won't exist, wouldn't that bother you as such an enthusiastic fan of this game?

It can be, at times, I agree. And there is a balance to be met. Playing games should always be first in my view because there is so much to experience in each and every game. Even arcade games which are usually the simplest ones. With games I am all in for I typically cannot help myself and will post nonstop about them no matter what. But there are some games imo that need to be experienced just the player, the machine plus screen running the game, and the game itself. Maybe some friends who come over to visit too. I knew about forums since 2004 but it wasn't until 2011 that they interested me as a gamer when Nintendo was in a slump. They have their pros and their cons but the ultimate experience is always between the game and the gamers onscreen
I've visited ResetEra to see how they talk games and I am not a fan of their approach. They chat about every single Nintendo game (for instance and in my observations) that comes out like each and every one is on the level of Ocarina of Time. There's no need to go bananas like that for every single game, as excited as most are. Each forum has its own ways, I personally like this one the most out of the few dozens I've seen but as long as you know how each one operates it can be a fun experience at almost all times. Zeta has made some outstanding threads that I've seen and then all of a sudden right before the game is out the developers went into woke territory and his threads take the hit in that way. It's all part of the game. Woke factions likely spawned and bred by Democrats and their unlimited DNC money have infected not only the video games industry at large, but the entire world's way of doing things. That's just what it happens to be, currently. All discussion is on the table, as it should be. If we're lucky, President Trump and his cabinet will take a hammer to DEI for four strong years, and then we'll do it again the next four so we can enjoy games without queer shit in em

I agree that art director was a fucking moron that should lose his job for bringing his politics to the games social media and the studio should a part to be blamed if the game fails. But the information has been out there and talked about to death. You're not converting anyone here. If I quit media for every single person that did a shitty thing I would have to stop watching wrestling all together.
Everyone has different thresholds for what they tolerate and that is perfectly okay. If you don't want to support this game that is okay just please be considerate to others that have different thresholds
