Thread: Astro Bot announced for PS5, launches September 6
My list of games I want to get a PS5 for just doubled, and they're both Astro Bot games. Doubt this one makes it to PC. Is this how non-Nintendo owners feel about Mario games!? lol

Hopefully there's VR support for this and they're just holding back to not be confusing.. that would be such a waste if not.

Really excited to see what they can pull off with a full-length game. I don't think the bots are a good mascot, and yet the gameplay is so on point I don't care. Gimme that platforming goodness.

I think that too, but it was really clever to put him in outfits for Journey, Wander, Kratos, etc. to let the bots "mascotize" their characters.

The apes, Kat, and whatever else they pull from Ueda games is really going to sting.

How long will it take to play the PS5 Astro's Playroom? I have it, haven't booted it up, but the soundtrack of this IP if it is like what is in the video above, seems to be pretty neat.

You can beat it an hour. If you're going to gather all collectibles and take time to look around for various references maybe two. You should collect everything because it's worth it (you'll see)

I appreciate it. How long for a Collectathon play through?

Loved playroom and would kill for a full game. This console is lacking in good 3D platformers

It looks pretty neat. 80+ levels across six galaxies, lots of new enemies and abilities.

Pre-orders open June 7.

My god, this looks extremely good. If the game manages to have good pacing and avoid overstaying it's welcome, it will probably be GOTY as far as I'm considered.

There is also the VR game. Sadly it's very inaccessible now. I don't know anyone myself with a VR headset and buying one even used is still way too expensive for just one game.

Only played VR but yeah, it's way better than odyssey and what little I've played of wonder. It doesn't come close to 3D world or Galaxy though.

If astrobot was a Mario game, it would be an A tier title in the franchise. Not quite S tier, but a title worthy of repeated playthroughs. Pretty impressive since it was their first game.

The PS5 short game is S tier.

My youngest kid played through a few levels of Astro's Playroom yesterday and I helped on a few parts, even found a few collectibles and puzzle pieces I had missed like the PS1 Multitap. The platforming is so fine tuned. I just want a ton of areas to jump around and explore in the new game.

Rescue Mission is a masterpiece in my opinion. It single handedly makes PSVR worth it, although I've played some other PSVR games that are also really cool too. It's a shame that PSVRs are a bit inconvenient to acquire. It's a shame also that PSVR 2 doesn't have any backwards compatibility

I don't think Sony has handled VR well, which is a shame. I have the first model that they released of the PSVR, and it has a lot of flaws that are kind of frustrating. VR is a cool technology though, and some of the games available for it are legitimately great. Moss, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Just in Time: Incorporated, and Pixel Ripped 1995 are some fun games I've played and enjoyed despite some of the frustrations that I had with the PSVR headset and camera.

Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is a game that will just leave you smiling the whole time you're playing it.

The game is so reminiscent of the PS2 era of Sony it feels weird having it in this age of AAA creative bankruptcy and remake culture. I see some Japan Studio DNA is still there in this new team.

Since Sony have this new retarded strategy at hand, I'd just wait this one out until it hits Steam. Otherwise, this would be the first PS5 game that genuinely feels like I need to play. (I thought the same for Stellar Blade, but that thought died off quickly for me, with Astro Bot the minds behind this one have a lot of history and past hits to show for)

Yeah, that's how I felt when playing Rescue Mission. They ARE Sony's best studio in my opinion. It's basically like Sony's version of Nintendo. That's the kind of magic Astro Bot games have.

Puppeteer is another magical Sony exclusive platformer. Play that if you haven't.

After my time with the PS5 pack-in Astro lab game, I'm interested in what this game is going to be.

I don't like the gyro flying controls, it's a personal issue and I am fine being in the minority in that, but the game looks like it will fit that Ratchet and Clank platform adventure niche. Asto has to be the defacto PlayStation mascot going forward. He is in my head at least. Leaning into all the call backs, Easter eggs and PlayStation Hardware aesthetic is a winning combination for a game like this.

Took my PSVR out of storage to play Astro Bot: Rescue Mission again, the back rubber part of the headset had pieces flaking off and it even stained my fingers black. I ended up throwing it in the garbage and buying a cheap replacement online (refurbished), though some people say you can just remove the entire rubber thing from the headset to prevent this as it apparently happens to everyone.

What was Sony thinking when they designed this thing?

The PSVR has some fantastic software, but everything about the PSVR itself is cheap, low quality trash.
