So let's say there's a leak and we find out GTA 6 is filled with woke propaganda or that some SBI-like company was heavily involved in creating the characters and story, are you still gonna buy it for its technical prowess?

Personally, even though I have a current freeze on purchasing games by western devs, I would probably still get it at launch just cause it's GTA, plus I know my friends will get it and i don't wanna be left out of the conversations about it and such.

No, but not because it's woke, it's because I'm sick of GTA. I abandoned V after the first mission and never felt the urge to come back. If it's woke, I'll be even less interested.

If the game lives up to the potential set by the last trailer, it'd be a banger, I didn't detect any bullshit politics other than the traditional GTA style satire and commentary its known for. I really really dig the Bonnie and Clyde thing they're going for and I hope they don't ruin it for said DEI rubbish. Might actually come back to the series if they stick the landing, but just for the story, kind of tired of the open world aspect even if it's the best in the business.

I'll be honest I have low expectations for gta 6. But if it's better than I expect with minimal woke i'll play it eventually.

No rush to play it because it's going to get many ports over the years so it's highly unlikely I will play it on ps5.

I still need to play gta v first. that's how much I care for gta lol

I think the main worry for me with GTA6 is the female protagonist. Is she going to be a shitty person like every other GTA main character or is Rockstar fucking scared of portraying a woman in a potential negative light? The answer to that will determine my purchase.

Absolutely not. Guaranteed that it's going to be the first one I skip at launch since GTA III in 2001 regardless of its content, not giving PlayStation or Xbox my money.

I expect D Pad to buy it and then bitch about it nonstop. Kind of like the routine we go through with Sony games.

I myself won't buy it because Rockstar became too fart-sniffy for me and their games haven't been fun for a long time.

Do you only have a PC Joe? Thought you had a ps5 for some reason

Yeah, haven't had much reason to pick up consoles since PS3, 360 and Wii U. Nearly jumped back in with PS5 at launch since I'd at least have some PS4 exclusives to check out and a [not great, not terrible] UHD Blu-Ray player, but Sony decided to capitalize on the pandemic narrative. In hindsight, I'm glad they did because I'd have regretted that purchase.

Every time I get a few minutes with a big budget release that everyone else is raving about I feel like my time was wasted. Halo Infinite and TotK were the only exceptions, but I picked up the former almost two years after release for $15 and the latter only because I could emulate it at 4K/60. Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection was surprisingly refreshing exclusively from a narrative point of view, if that counts, but only because 6+ years of cultural decline/woke stupidity had made me appreciate it much more than if I had played it at launch.

More on topic, I considered GTA V a significant downgrade from IV in the gameplay department - its NPC behavior and more varied/erratic vehicle pathing made that world much more dynamic - and wouldn't be surprised if the changes at Rockstar lead to a further downgrade with VI. They've nailed the visuals as far as I'm concerned and the trailer gave off the classic GTA vibe with perfectly suited song, but that social media gimmick remains a question mark (undoubtedly a core element, the "Follow" button design next to names was a tell).

My expectations are low, that sandbox just has to impress me more than GTA IV's, but if they run with the woke BS I won't even touch it when it eventually arrives on PC.

I'll buy it and play it for 6 hours and never touch it again. Like I do with most of their games that aren't GTA3 or VC.

Probably not but I'm not a big GTA fan. Would of loved a new RDR which probably will never happen...

For what it's worth the ps4 back catalog alone is enough reason to get a ps5, really ps4's library is enormous. But I totally get where you're coming from

Also 100% with you on gta IV and the driving/physics being a lot better than 5 (I have played a little of 5) Still want to brute force a high res play through of the pc version when I build my next rig.

The campaign will be a glorified ad for the online version. I keep wondering who forced them to release this Title when they are literally printing money with GTA online.

This will probably be the last GTA ever
They're probably (rightly so) thinking that iron won't be hot forever and don't want to wait too long before people lose interest in gta online.

We've already seen enough to know that it's not super woke.

If the game lives up to the potential set by the last trailer, it'd be a banger, I didn't detect any bullshit politics other than the traditional GTA style satire and commentary its known for. A trailer doesn't show you anything about the game though really. Look at Spider-man 2, did they show the MJ missions in the trailers? Did they show all the LGBT handicaped side-quests, all the NPCs preaching LGBT, all the LGBT/BLM artwork in the city, the questline where the evil white guys try to steal from the good black people? No, they didn't show you any of that shit because nobody would've bought it otherwise. You can't trust trailers anymore.

The GTA 6 trailer for me throws up a few red flags though, like how Lucia is clearly the dominant one in their relationship. It could make sense if she's a career criminal and Jason is just a normal guy who fell for her, but if they're both criminals to begin with, it makes no sense for her to be so dominant. She's on top in the bed and talks to Jason like she's the boss, she barges in to the mini mart first.

Woke is on the way out (France just banned puberty blockers yesterday btw) and Rockstar make games that capitalize on the zeitgeist. I don't think they'd be so stupid—but you never know!

If it's woke AF (which I honestly doubt), the I'd maybe buy a cheap key to check out the tech.

Buuuuuuut I'm on PC and that release is still like five years away so I don't give a shit lol

Rockstar have that special Netherealm Studios tech. That tech that means a game looks great but plays like shit. Both are truly masters of the unwarranted sales buzz.

I wouldn't touch a woke smeared game from my favourite studios.

On PC anyway, so it will be a few years before it turns up for me. However, to echo others' 'Woke' isn't a dealbreaker versus a minor annoyance, in large part because it is often incongruous with certain genres and undermines immersion, and often is a signal of bad writing (though not exclusively).

The reality is BlackRock is the biggest investment firm going and if you require long-term funding (and most projects do). You're going to have to kiss the ring of ESG. However, The fundamental problem is that something that should tie in solely with how a company operates has metastasized into the creative output infecting every aspect, and therein lies the issue. Turning everything into ESG-flavored Blancmange, or as I like to put it Blandmange.

Do I eschew 'Woke'? Not on principle. I wait to see how things are received and make a judgment call based on what I hear. I'm a firm believer in Sturgeon's Law that 90% of everything is ultimately crap and only 10% of any creative outputs are ultimately worthwhile and that still holds to this day. 'Woke' isn't magically altering that percentage. If it sounds like something is essentially poorly written BS woke or otherwise, then I don't see the point in putting time into it, given there isn't an absence of other things to enjoy out there.

They're setting themselves up for disaster most likely. I've never met a female criminal that intimidated me. I've never met a female that intimidated me period. I don't know how they plan to pull off making this chick believable as the main character especially considering the fact that her voice actor is literally just some average latina woman off the streets. Until I'm proven wrong if that's the case, this one's for the gays

I was never going to get it anyway. The previous GTA games I played all I did was mess around, which was fun, but once I started doing story mission I always ran into tedious objectives and a boring story.
