Thread: AI gonna change the music industry
The real question is legally does someone own their voice ? Is AI different than an impression? If i sang a song as a perfect impression of Micheal Jackson is that illegal and I have to pay a record label ?

After the Sex Pistols fired their original producer, he put together a band called The Ex Pistols and hired Dave Slave to sing vocals exactly like Johnny Rotten. Needless to say the Sex Pistols sued the fuck out of them and won.

There is a subtle difference between you doing an impression and AI - the AI is trained on data generated by the artist - it doesn't create in itself as synthesize based on the artist's work. I'd say a closer parallel is sampling where there is an expectation that the creator of the sampled work is paid for its use in a new song - eg The Verve made no money from Bittersweet Symphony because they ripped off another track and got legally raped for it.

Good point. I think this is going to be a legal battle we see soon and depending how the case goes we will get precedent.

We are not far off from somone releasing a new song that becomes a hit using an artist AI voice and then the record label/artist sue.

The next interesting application will be using dead artists and releasing brand new music.

This is precisely what I was getting into when creating some false Beatles tunes, half of them are dead so it's already possible.

Another interesting thing about jukebox, you can even come up with some wacky styles like Medieval Jazz or Death Samba, stuff like that, and even make "Deftones" play a whole different genre. You can pick deftones but input generes like lating reggae salsa and let hell break lose. It generates some truly interesting shit that can be used to make people be creative when composing.

Am I the only one who feels like AI is just a fad?

At least in the things it's currently used for

Nah. Its gonna change the game.

Its gonna be internet levels of change.

We are in the AOL dial up ICQ BBS boards phase right now.

In 10 15 20 years AI is going to be much different but complelty ubiquitous just like how the internet is.

Tell someone on a 14.4K modem surfing AOL that in 25 years u will have the most powerful PC in your pocket and you can blast your voice and videos instantly while at the same time watching and reading anything you want. There heads would have exploded.

AI is going to do everything for us.

Just wait till they use AI to bring your dead relatives back to life.

Record your loved ones now. Feed those recordings into AI and bam when they are dead you can continue to talk with them. Add in video AI to digitally recreate them and you can then talk to an avatar of your dead grandma.

Wanna make money ? AI pornstars doing private video strip shows for horney simps. You dont need a thot. Just have the AI make the video and use AI voice modules and bam you have a 24/7 AI cam girl.

Andrew Tate im coming for you

My brother works in the music industry and just now he was telling me about this. He said that AI will take over a lot of menial and creative work very soon in the music industry. No more mixing, cleaning, dubbing or searching/creating sound effects, it will all be AI generated in a few years.

Luckily he is a music technician so there is still some time left before AI starts lugging around cables.

I expect this to go the same way that agriculture went. Instead of a 1000 people working a huge field it is just one guy with 5 GPS controlled harvesters.

It will probably improve pop songs since most of them are rip offs of Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson and take 11 people to write them.

I think music should be made by humans anyways. I think a ban on this technology is justified in a way.

Humans will never stop composing.

People still write with pens even though computers exist. One thing will not extinguish another.

It will however dictated whether or not a person can make a career out of creative endeavors. Companies are already looking to excise the human element in many fields.

Now imagine a billion dollar studio with the best engineers and AI specialists and a back catalogue of original masters what they can do.

Some of these YT vids are pretty good but their done by amateurs in comparison to what a record label can do.

Overall with how society is a barron place for original ideas and has to mine every inch of nostalgia i think the days of new artist are coming to a close.

Were basically going to see record labels AI their back catalogue to release new songs. And since they will say they own the proamming and learning they dont have to pay anyone even the artist themselves.

Like UMG with drake. They will make their own Drake AI to produce new songs. Then tell Drake to suck balls they own the masters that they used to program the AI and he gets nothing.

So record labels keep all the money dont pay the artist one red cent and society will eat it up because all we care about are known brands.

If this makes all of these cunts like Drake poor I'm all for it.

I haven't liked most new music for close to decade so this likely wont impact anything I'd be listening to in the future.
