Thread: What's the best arcade racer you ever played?
Hype Thread
Yeah Waverace 64 was frickin' amazing. The topology of the waves and how you had to anticipate and stratgise the interaction to gain the most speed was great. Also it had the extreme variance as the weather worsened, changing the approach to a course. Just a brilliantly delivered concept.

Waverace on the GC by comparison however was crap. Yes, it had a more 'wet' kind of feel, lots of effects and so on, but it lost that interactive feel with the water. It was more like a broadly undulating surface plane to be driven over, rather than something to be navigated moment to moment, getting bounced around.
so i just realized you can still purchase Waverace64 on Wii U... played that shit last night lol still so good

Excite Truck was way better than it had any right to be. I'd be up for an HD remaster of that game that includes Excite Truck and Excitebots.

I'd rather get the PS5 version and it's 49.99 vs 86.99 or whatever new fucking games are in my native Fagistan
I have a Switch, many PCs, the MiSTer FPGA box and a PS2 I'm modding for piratey goodness for the wife. Ordinarily the PC would win but given the intention of playing split screen multiplayer it's Switch. Unless it doesn't have split screen multiplayer in which case I need to lay off the crackpipe.

Ridge Racers for PSP, the drifting and nitro are just pure perfection in this game.

Would love to have a modern remake of Re-Volt.

With the physics and drifting of Hot Wheels.

Looks like Nvidia really wants to force me to buy a 40xx card. I want a modern remake of Re-Volt... and here's this:

Didn't hear anything about it since that trailer, though.

NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010). I really dislike Burnout Paradise so HP feels like the true seventh gen Burnout entry. It's brilliant.
I recently picked up the Remastered version, too.
