Btw regarding the team size topic:

It wasn't actually made by only 30 devs.

- The core team is around 30 devs
- 8 people from Korea for animations
- dozens of people for QA, voice work and translation
- over 30 people for the music including a choir

So including external resources overall under 100 people that made this possible. Still impressive and a very healthy size. 30-40 people in the core team is very efficient.

Voices and QA are not full time work anyway.
It's still super impressive.
Would love to know how they accomplished this amount of content in that quality.

So glad to see this game passed 1 million sales and the steam player count is 6 digits. My buddy snagged it and is hooked. Been raving about it in our group chat.

Looking forward to playing it sometime this summer. Might buy it early just to show support and then keep it at the top of the backlog.

I feel like we're starting to see a bit of a tide shift with smaller games getting the support and sales they need. The legacy publishers causing chaos need to feel the sting like never before.

It's a snowball that will keep building. Last year we had some notable AA like Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, Manor Lords, Enotria, Sand Land, Outcast 2, and Path of Exile 2, and all made waves in their respective genres.

This year so far we had First berserker Khazan, Avowed, Atomfall, and now E33 for AA releases, and more to come in the next 12 months like Greedfall 2, Phantom Blade Zero, etc.

I feel like AA has been firing on all cylinders from the late PS4 to present day. So much good stuff to devour.

Greedfall II needs a huge update and revamp. Fans did not like the changes of a decent if flawed combat system to a Dragon Age Origns overhead system at all and it's pretty much killed any hype. They need to do a lot to get that hype back.

Outcast 2 was simply divine for me. Good Lord did I have fun playing that game.

I have confidence.

I bought it because of your recommendation last year, for whatever that's worth. Wonderful game. 🌝👌

Noo. Gustave! I really liked that character, he will be missed through the game.

Game picked up for me. Turns out I was coming down with an illness so I was a bit grouchier than usual when I posted a few days ago. I definitely do not like the direction of some NPC characters, tho. Jar Jar Paintbrushes, ugh, not for me.

Yeah agreed about the paint brushes. Seems a bit at odds with the world.

Also I don't known if this will be a plot point later on or not, but there's far too many expedition bodies around. Planting seeds for some kind of time shenanigans maybe? (Total hopeful guess).

There were many previous expeditions with large teams, I never thought there were too many bodies.

I've definitely had a few "Is that?" "Was that", "Could that be" and "Does this mean?" moments by the point I have reached currently. One or 2 plot points have been revealed but not yet anything that answers the broader narrative.

I understand what you mean with the GoT armies point. But I also suspect you may be a little further along than I am, too.

It is keeping me interested.

Yeah I think I'm about two hours into act 2. Mainly just seeing what optional things I can do. I went from "they better start taking it easier with these expedition art assets" to "omg this is too much for it not to be intentional."

Reminds me of Lost in alot of ways. In that you think Ben (Verso) has all the answers, then maybe Intro Guy (Richard) and then maybe The Paintress (Jacob).

Only had one example of this kind of talk that mystery shows love, so far;

"We are on an island of wonder, why do you kill us all year by year, why did the world end, what are the monsters.... and I want answers dammit, but first let me ask you where did you get your clothes from?"

I have to say, the visual quality is really impressive maxed on PC with some mods. But also without .ini UE5 tweaks, it's a looker.

And it's thanks to UE5. The engine makes it easier for devs to create good looking games, this is a strength of UE5, to be easy to use, creating good results without huge dev teams. It even performs well on consoles with the devs using the UE5 presets in a good way. Apparently the newer versions have been optimized to target console hardware and the engine is a good fit for the scale of this game. I have a very smooth experience now on PC as well, outside of some rare traversal hitches. So..... UE5 redeemed or what?

Let's hope other devs will be able to create similar results without big performance issues in the future.

Player engagement still going strong. 24h Steam concurrent players peak is 117k. It looks like it might set a new overall peak over the weekend.

Not like a certain other game that released recently, that had a continuous steep decline after the first weekend and isn't even in the top 170 anymore.

these numbers are not indicative of how it's amazing scores and reception.
Is it not in the public zeitgeist ?

I got to the big hero six wannabe. I think the from software checkpoint system pairs really well with a turn based rpg. It also lets you practice parry timing without fear.

So far the game is a breath of fresh air. I'm really happy it's finding success and I hope it inspires more small/mid sized teams to form.

I really like the tone of the game, it's super dark and serious but then also playful and funny, which I first thought wouldn't work well. But it fits into the narrative and the themes that the game tackles, death as an inevitable part of life, limited time to live, how to handle that reality and how to use whatever time you have left etc.

You all need to play more. I'm watching this thread like a hawk waiting to see reactions. Hurry the fuck up n00bs.

I already played 19h of the game, but I'm exploring everything I can before progressing with the story. Just finished Act 1 and did all accessible optional levels, hitting the wall against the enemies at the Dark Shore. I'm taking it all in, exploring, taking my time. The game is absolutely beautiful and the locations are unbelievable.

Tracking the Steam concurrent players, looking at the sales split with the other platforms, I think they'll be able to announce 2m sold (including physical shipped) inside of the next 5 days.

Dark shore is a god damn wall. I tried really hard to push through but when the trip showed up...I said nope and walked out.

Yeah I tried one battle and realized it wasn't possible yet. Ran around and collected some of the items, making a note to myself to revisit that area later. I read that you'll get an item that eliminates the 9.999 damage limit for your attacks later on, I think you need that one to beat those guys.

You don't NEED it. But It took about 15 minutes of never missing a dodge or parry for me to kill the duos.

Excited to get back into this again tonight. Maybe I can sink a solid 3 hours into it this time.

So for everyone that's been through Act 1, is there an actual delimiter that tells you that you just finished Act 1 or is just kind of inferred through cut scenes? I don't want to progress too far into the story and miss side stuff.

It was clear to me that there's a significant step happening forward, you'll know. You'll be on your way to cross something to get closer to your goal.
