Good work SanTay, was just about to post about this but then saw you had already set up the thread 🍻 let's gooooooo can't wait to learn more about the game. I wanna try to be a bit more competitive of a racer this time around so I don't get dusted every time online. I can place 1st like once out of every 15 or so races online in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and it's usually only if there a few computers and the tough competitors exit the lobby lol. Competition in these Mario Kart games when playing online is no joke

I hope they have a soapbox derby mode. You construct your own custom vehicle from random shit like in tears of the kingdom. They then line all up at the top of the big hill with various obstacles, weapons, etc.

Game's looking like the GOAT Mario Kart already. Nintendo really did their homework on this one. I was thinking of buying the physical copy but maybe I'll consider the bundle now with the digital Mario Kart World because I can see myself wanting to play a little bit of this like virtually every time after playing any other game…

Time Trials alone is worth it for this game. How many tracks are there is what I'm wondering because some if these racetracks have enough layers to constitute as two tracks in one, maybe slightly more

Looks awesome, loads of great additions and a huge variety in courses. I was a bit sceptical about it being open world when it was first announced but looks like they've done a great job with the transition. Looking forward to playing.

If the map in the direct is accurate there's 29 different circuits. So around 30 including the hinted at unlock(s).

However, the routes between the circuits are also "tracks". And there's quite a number of them.

I already made up my mind to get game. This just reiterated my decision.

This direct may not sway people who are on the fence. Especially with the price!

This game looks like a lot fun. And a decent amount of content. Will probably keep most busy til the holidays (if not longer).

A younger me would eat up the new wall ride, grind, jump mechanics….but these days i am sure there will be younger people who will use these abilities to demolish me. So i'll likely only race online with friends.

Overall i'm impressed. When i get a Switch 2, this will be an immediate purchase.

Direct wasnt earth shattering. What i expected show courses characters items talk about the modes and food.
Is it worth 80 ?
I say yes because it's a game that people will play for the next 8 years of the systems lifespan.
Is it expensive ? Yes. Is 10$ more for a game most people will play for 8 years and 100s of hours worth this massive backlash? I don't think so.
I still think 80$ price point is BS if you don't get the bundle but overall for 10$ you get a game that will last you years its not worth pulling your hair out

Yeah it's looking really damn good. Though I do wish they had done some kind of progression-based campaign. Copying Diddy Kong's type of formula with the open world would have been an 11/10.

I also like that Nintendo "believes in generations." They know they'd sell 60M copies in a year if they made this a cross-gen game like Sony and MS, but they said fuck that, this is a new gen game only.

Seems the reaction on line is mostly negative. I don't know what people were expecting from this direct . That they would reveal the game would give you a hand job once you finish the GP or something ?
Its Mario Kart. Here's the courses here's the racers here's the items. It's not rocket science.

For an MK game it looks great. The price sucks if you buy the game outright so better get that bundle.
And there will be DLC and it will be tied to NSO expansion pack sub. That's 100% guarantee. They didn't announce it now because they want to have something to drop in a future direct.

Dang boy they even got those peculiar looking ducks from Super Mario Sunshine that shoot you up into the air and then the sand crabs as playable characters now. Who else is on the roster lol. Fuzzy better be there man

Negative reaction to this? That's wild. Game looks lit as fuck. Oodles more content than MK8. Sure the can whine about the price, but they would whine the same if it was GTA6.

Anyone who mildly enjoys kart racers should be over the moon for this game. So I have a hard (neigh impossible) time believing the reaction is mostly negative. Unless it's all a bunch of PS/Xbx/SD fanboys running around screeching due to sore assholes.

The whole MK World formula is a console seller for me more so than DK or Metroid. The price point bothers me far less than the bulk of games being advertised are years old at this point.

For me this is basically a console I'm going to buy for 5-10 total titles and everything else on PC or a stronger future console.

MarioKart, DK, Mario3d game, new Zelda or Windwaker, Smash bros, hopefully a new punchout........that's about it for me Nintendo. Sure hope you got a lot more IP coming

Yeah, unless the open world somehow fucks up the classic Mario Kart flow, this looks hype af. It looks to be absoputely packed with content, csnt wait to give it a go.

Its the youtubosphere. All the grifters are upset that the direct didn't show the entire game and they can't get over the 80$ price point.
I get its expensive but the game is something people will play the entire gen and there won't be an MK world 2 released in a year. Mk 8 was still going strong and selling like crazy for the Switchs life span.
I don't think there is anything that would convince people it's worth 80$. Adding a story mode wouldn't all of a sudden make people go oh ya extra 10$ totally worth it.
