Thread: Switch 2 announced! (NatetheHate: Nintendo Switch 2 will be announced on Thursday, January 16)
Hype Thread
Super Mario Party Jamboree is the best game out right now maybe tied with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. My question is will the online servers be better when NS2 players play with NS players during a game of online four player Mario Party mode? I have to think that there's a chance the servers are better for NS2 when it releases, right?

I don't know. What part of this involves "servers"?? Is it the lobby where you look for and wait for online game availability, or is it in-game where "servers" doesn't even equate?

Not sure. The way players get games in Super Mario Party Jamboree takes place in a a couple of ways. If you play solo and go online to find players, then you are directly given matching players of similar skill level to play with by the game's server I am assuming. If you want to play with friends or others of your choosing, you can invite them by sending them an invite as well as giving them a code for a lobby, which they can join

I can't wait until my babies are old enough to play. My 9 year old likes Mario party but we just don't have time to commit to playing, but when the 2 and 3 year olds are 5 and 6 it's game on.

My wife and I play against the computers. We'll do 25 or 30 turns and play half of them one night and the other half the following night. It works really well!

You better make time boy. That's the perfect time to be playing. I started playing Mario Party at that age. Fortunately, friends were constantly coming over after school so there was always time to get some games in

We play other stuff like Mario kart, but Mario party is such a marathon of a game.

Especially the new one. It's so much fun to consider and mull over options. 15 Turns can last an hour and a half. 20 Turns can become a two hour and fifteen minutes match if you have players who like to check the map. I personally prefer it that way, but it definitely takes some planning and setting time aside. Not always the easiest thing to do. I hope next Mario Party game, that Nintendo will have a website for stats and tendencies and analytics tracking. It would be very cool if they also made magnetic board maps where you can place players on spaces as they go, so that you can consider yours or everyone's next moves. But that's just me and my wishful thinking as an enormous fan of the games

Technically, leaving the site is an effective "ignore" feature.

Or people learn to just leave arguments they don't like. And engage in arguments they do like.

It's simple. Nobody forces them to engage, going deeper and deeper into the shit. An argument becomes not fun? Go and do something that's fun and don't be salty.

There, I fixed forums.

Agree, it's why I left the convo since it wasn't going anywhere. The convo became repetitive.

I don't understand how people can be "anti-Nintendo."

The same way some people can be 'anti-Valve', I suppose. Even though Valve does have the whole "stopped making games" thing.

Heh, actually. In some ways Valve is the perfect 'anti-Nintendo'. Great user-first storefront and platform, massive discounts all the time, extremely open hardware, generous with content licensing, always innovating in technology, made a couple great games in the past and almost completely stopped. The one thing they have in common is that they both released a gaming handheld to runaway success. And somehow, the two of them are basically the last two pillars of modern gaming, each in their own way.

I think it comes down to what you think videogames should be.

Back on NeoGAF there were always arguments with people who didn't seem to understand that family friendly games are just as valid as photorealistic gore-fests with cinematic cutscenes.

Animal Crossing is absolutely not my thing but the thread about it on GAF was hilarious with people really seeming to take it personally that a game that didn't fit their strict definition was super popular.

I can kind of see it when maybe you've spent lots of money on your gaming PC or you've been hyped for months about PS5s potential performance and ray-tracing and 60fps at 4k and you look over here and there's like 64 million people happily playing away on Mario Kart or enjoying Tear of the Kingdom despite it's unreliable framerate.

Imagine being pumped up about the brand new most powerful console ever and then you look over here and people are just quietly enjoying their Switch Lite! "They shouldn't count Switch Lite sales as it isn't a home console!"

Even worse if the "idiots" or "fanboys" or "corporate bootlickers" are paying full price for the games and not complaining. Of course, it's OK to come into those arguments throwing "stupid" and "idiot" and "shill" around but as soon as there's blowback? Oh, boy! Better lock that thread down and get to deleting posts!

Pretty sure we had a few meltdowns on here when TOTK started getting good reviews.

Nintendo is really like the normie gaming company in a lot of ways. I guess hobby enthusiasts always hate the mainstream thing.

During the Wii/3DS days, I was kinda anti-Nintendo.

I had this shiny space-age PS3 and people would bring over their Fisher Price Toy Box and the bowling game required so little genuine dexterity that you could just flick your wrist while sitting down and get a strike. The 3DS needed a bizarre frankenstein tumor attachment while I was using my slick, sexy new Vita.

Nintendo just looked like it was making bullshit to me. The Mario Kart game that used a plastic steering wheel attachment for the worst controls ever was an abomination. I wanted no part of it. But they've really won me back. It's still not a "main console" for me, but it's a fantastic second system.

Yeah, it's strange. I get not being interested in what they have to offer, but why would you be against them offering something different, especially when it's clear there is strong demand for it.

Influence and anti-influence. Think of Kinect, EyeToy, Move, SIXAXIS, etc. If Nintendo is too successful zagging where they zig, they don't want it to seep into their "hardcore" games.
Better for Fortnite to do that.

Which one though? I think there's a few even on Switch.

Never played Mario Party before so might give it a shot based on a very loose recommend from @Optimus there.

Imagine how pissed I am going to be if it's only selling at full price. :ROFLMAO:

It's the newest Mario Party. It just released in last October. Of course it's still full price. It's hands down the best Mario Party available. I'd even say it's the best one ever, but that can also be because a lot of the Mario Party games are a lot older. Still, this one has the best boards I've ever played. It's a lot of fun. I liked Mario Party Superstars, but this one is way better.

Superstars was previously my fav Mario Party by far, it's fantastic. But the more I play Jamboree the more I think I'm liking it even more than Superstars. There was just so much thought out into Jamboree, it's fantastic and I really hope Nintendo releases some dlc for it.

Not bothered that it's full price. Will definitely get this for the weekend.

Legit retailer in Italy begins preorders for Switch 2 at €364.99, which is equivalent to $379.77 USD but typically consoles cost less in the States, signaling it could be $350… or $400. Either way, I think the $500 rumors can die.

"In Italy, GamesandMovies.it — which is a legit retailer based out of the European country — has pushed Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders live at €364.99. Currently, this translates to $379.77 USD. To this end, the price would suggest a $350 USD price point, as consoles are usually cheaper in the United States compared to other regions given the size and importance of the market. However, it could signal a $400 price point, but this is less likely.

It's unclear if the Italian retailer is basing this pricing on rumors and leaks or if it knows something the general public does not. Whatever the case, it is notable because it is taking actual pre-orders for the console. In other words, this is not just a mere placeholder price. Those in Italy can buy the console for €364.99 right now."

To be honest, outside of Indies and 3rd parties for any console last gen (ps5 Xbox series x) that's not bad

I wonder how many pre-orders will be placed for this console? If there are 7 million consoles out there will that be enough? I get the feeling that the best choice would be to pre-order one of these NS2 consoles ASAP if they have a great showing with the Nintendo Direct on April 2nd

I'm not anti Nintendo, but I DO think that they're assholes.

That being said, I'll probably buy a switch 2, complain that there are still no achievements, their online sucks, have no deep discounts, and they nickel and dime us on their classic games etc.

Nintendo needs to run the launch the exact opposite of how Sony and Microsoft ran their respective launches. Tell retailers that they want in person purchases only (unless they're an online only retailer) and limit purchases to one per person. That will kill the bots and scalpers. I could see Nintendo moving through 5 million units extremely fast. I think this launch will be huge.

Good call on Mario Party Jamboree, boys! Absolutely brilliant and exactly what we were looking for.

To any Nintendo ninjas looking in, I paid full price for your game and was more than happy with what I got. Please charge $600 for Switch 2 and I think I speak for everyone here when I say we would gladly pay $100 for new Switch 2 titles and nobody ever really wants discounts so don't bother.

I wasn't picked in their horribly implemented hands on event sweepstakes. Now I have to hope I can hit the waitlist on Wednesday. The way they handled this drawing is way worse than the fact that Pokémon snap is full price.

It was handled so shittily. The website would fail everytime I made an attempt.
