Man, the F1 footage from the recent DF video looks amazing. Like damn. It's a night and day difference.

What gets me is that anyone who just showed up at like 845 or 850am got placed immediately in the front of the line because of the way they handled this.
If you tried at 830am, for example, then you had a 20 minute queue, got on the site, saw nothing, and then started fresh in a new queue at the back of the line since they paused it at 9am.

I decided to take a shot at buying something right before 10AM. I guess I signed in when the queue was paused but I waited well over an hour before I made it to the front of the line.
Yep, basically 9am became the important time since it was a weird pause cutoff. I gotta keep that in mind if there's ever anything else of theirs I'm trying to get like that.
I never really feared my chances of getting a regular Pro. I wouldn't have woken up early and worried about being late for work and all that shit if they didn't pull the anniversary stunt. I'd have just ordered it from my phone or something. Hell, I just looked on the Direct site, and you can still buy a Pro right now like 11 hours after they put up the preorders.

Looks like they're offering $300 in-store credit for a PS5 right now. Or if you have that Pro membership, $330. So I imagine they're going to be offering at least that towards a Pro, but that's just a guess.

It's not still available, it's available again. First batch was sold out everywhere pretty quickly. Then they added more quantities apparently, I can pre-order the Pro here in Germany again.
It's not telling us anything tbh. We don't know how large the initial number of Pros was, we don't know how many more got added.
Interest seems to be there, at least to the normal expected degree of around 15% of the user base. It's doing what it's been designed to do, getting enthusiasts on board, bringing attention to the brand, nobody is really talking or caring about Xbox at the moment. It's not a new console that customers have to buy. It's a premium product for the tech savvy 15% and a halo device that impacts the brand perception overall, just like Nvidia having the strongest and most expensive GPU impacts their brand perception.

The normal Pro has been available in the UK constantly. Well it had an hour mid day where it was shown as sold out, but it has been pretty consistent since.

An $800 (after tax) console is not going to sell very well. It's a niche, niche, niche product; it'll sell to 5% of the base, maybe 10 if they get lucky. Sony hasn't made a very good case for it either. I mean, I guess F1 looks really good, a few others look a little better but nothing jumps out at me. Most of the games on DF's side by side video honestly were so similar that I had to read which was Pro and which was Vanilla most times. The disc drive kills it, because people have an existing gen and back gen library of games and they CANNOT experience those libraries out of the box. Of course they can buy an add on drive, but that's 32x or N64 expansion port levels of niche.
It's an expensive system that locks you out of games sitting on your shelf and the games they've shown have been marginal improvements. I don't think it helps their brand; not at this price and with no killer app. I think it forces the buyer to consider a PC, something Sony has already been doing a great job with before the Pro. I think it's badly conceived and not a system for the time it's arriving in. And it was extremely easy to say no to it yesterday.

I believe the lottery system is exactly what was employed in Japan for the preorders of Pro and Anniversary Pro variants. I suppose the saving grace for the US market was the fact that you had to sign into an "active" PSN account with at least 30 hours of play time over the last decade (not exactly hard to achieve, but at least stopped the scalpers just signing up new PSN accounts)

At the request of @WhatIsThis? , I just tested Ghostwire Tokyo (Unpatched for pro) I used the "HFR Quality" mode which is basically high fidelity with RT reflections enabled.
As far as I can see, the game runs flawless I ran about the city and got into a few larger battles with no hitches in frame rate. Pretty much perfect to my eye.
Be aware that I'm on a VRR panel so there may be a few hitches that are hidden.

Siiiiick. I only play Ghostwire on my OLED w/ VRR, good to know it runs well.
I'm kinda surprised we don't see more DF or other videos showcasing the standouts for unpatched Pro improvements like this.
