Nintendo has updated its guidelines for content creators, strengthening its right "to object" to any content it deems "inappropriate".

Nintendo's "game content guidelines for online video and image sharing platforms" were updated earlier today (2nd September). Whilst the company says it is "humbled every day" by the loyalty and passion of its fanbase, it nonetheless reminds all content creators that they need to adhere to "basic rules", and "reserves the right to object to any content that [it] believe is unlawful, infringing, inappropriate, or not in line with these guidelines".

"We reserve the right to no longer allow the use of Nintendo game content in case of such violations," the terms guidelines say.

"We reserve the right to remove any content that we believe is unlawful, infringing, inappropriate, or not in line with the guidelines. In some cases, Nintendo may take down videos on behalf of our third-party partners."

Content creators also cannot simply upload or livestream unedited gameplay footage of any Nintendo game without adding their own "creative or editorial input".

Nintendo at war again with its fanbase

It looks like this incident might have something to do with this.

Another creeper ruining it for everyone else :/

Man I miss the days of these companies not giving af about stuff on the internet.

Edit: So the offending video has to do with ranked players meeting up at competitions and hooking up outside of events. And there was apparently advice on hooking up with other similarly aged people.

Nintendo doesn't like this because it's E for everyone. The Olympics are also E for everyone and everyone knows what an orgy the Olympic village is.

While I don't like Nintendo gets so annoyed about emulation of old games, I do agree with Nintendo blocking content such as this.

Horny people can go on tinder to fulfill their urges. Leave games for gaming. Just because you meet someone you like at a Nintendo game event, doesn't mean you have to start organising hookups around it.

Knowing what we know about games "journalists" is it any surprise that Nintendo is all over stuff like this?

Probably a big part of why their online service is the way it is too. You can easily imagine cunts like IGN or Kotaku running with articles that imply that Nintendo is facilitating some dodgy shit.

Such as "Kotaku UK: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Persona 5 DLC Includes a Disability Slur", where a Kotaku writer listens to a song from Persona 5 that was added to the soundtrack of Smash Bros, mishears a word from the song, then writes an article about family friendly Nintendo have the word "retard" in their game.
