Have they fixed spawn rates yet on difficulty 10? It was so broken the last couple of times that I haven't bothered to touch the game. It used to be fine but last few times it was unplayable, just nonstop hordes of mobs.

Spawn rates are messed up for all levels at 7 and above.

Sad face, this is all they need to fix for me to come back to it. It's been months of this broken spawn rate.

This is why I usually only play on level 6 or 7. I join up with randoms and the higher difficulties get to be complete shit shows. At level 6/7 they stay manageable even with completely dumb team mates (unless they use up all the reinforce tickets).

There seems to be a trend towards making enemies tougher and your primary and secondary weapons just dont cut it. Having to use a complete magazine and a half to kill a green bile spewer seems kind of ridiculous. How would you guys feel if they added a 5th strategem slot? It seems like the game is trending towards using strategems as your primary source of enemy death anyway so why not add a 5th slot so you can round your loadout a bit more?

I would argue a sixth as well. Or at least they should start using the top strats slots reserved for those special scenarios more often. It does two things, first it buffs your play by giving you an edge in firepower. Second it forces you to try stuff you never considered to see how it works. This type of offerings has expanded how I think about loadouts and I find myself having the best time when those extra reserved slots are filled with something.

They are buffing the enemies, debuffing our tool sets and causing the enemy power creep to make the game unfun. It feels like we are still in a beta phase with all the server drops still ongoing, not to mention the absolute terrible experience it has been with randoms flocking to the game to get the new warbond only to drop off after they have it, all the while their skills in the game are rusty and they blame those of us who play almost daily that we are somehow the problem as they keep running into strats thrown before they decided to get obliterated by said strat. Also these returners have a bad habit of just doing the main objectives and then starting the evac with more than half the map untouched, resources not collected and 2/3rds of the time left on the mission clock. These are regularly level 48 and above players. WTF?

This last point could be mitigated if Arrowhead FIXED.THE.FRIEND.REQUEST.SYSTEM. Every time I get in with a good group we all realize it isn't ever going to match up like that again because we cannot add each other as friends.

I don't understand why Sony hasn't sent engineers to Arrowhead to bootcamp their asses into a stable netcode with cross compatibility fixes.

I used to be able to 2 man 9 with a good partner, now it's damn near impossible even with 4. We just barely clear the main objective most of the time.

I haven't even played since the update. The update coming with another wave of nerfs is so demoralising, even though they aren't so bad, that I just couldn't muster up enough enthusiasm to play. Seriously, you make a new big update and again fucking nerfs after they said "yeah, the TTK is too long, people spend more time running than playing, we will fix that" man, fuck you.

And again the retarded argument of "well, too many people use it", not that it is severely overpowered or anything, no, just too many people are using it. Absolutely fucking retarded.

We are back where we have started. When the first wave of nerfs hit it was because "well, everyone is just using railgun so we nerfed it so you would try other guns" and people rightly said "how about making the other guns as good to incentives us to use them?" to which the then-CEO said "you are right, this is wrong, I'm stepping down as CEO to become a lead dev again so I can fix this messy situation, TTK is too long, it isn't fun." which was followed by THE best update where almost all the shitty guns and stratagems got a major buff and suddenly people started using gas strikes, gatling, strafing run, MG turret, adjudicator, dilligence etc. everyone found their niche.

But no, now we are back to retarded shit again about "too many people". They also said the most retarded thing ever about the commando rocket launcher, that they know we enjoy the fact that it can destroy fabricators but they plan to do something about it. They plan to do something about us having fun. Unglaublich.

Long rant, sorry, but it at least shows that I care.

That approach turned me off tbh. I liked the railgun back then, didn't think it was that op. The other weapons were just useless on higher difficulties.

I am seeing youtube vids talking about secret buffs to the laser weapons; unlisted in patch notes

While nice, it doesn't absolve the nerfs they did to existing weapons. The whole Idea is that we have a bunch of weapons to choose from, so if the Devs find that percentage of people are loading out with the same weapon types, then perhaps they should make other weapons more attractive. The players will figure it out and change up what is being loaded out. I do at least one or two drastically different load out a week in addition to my usual, just to change up the game for myself and sometimes, I am surprised what becomes my new go to.

Which brings up another issue I have with Arrowhead. Game has been out since February and they haven't set up a quick save for loadouts. Instead you either have to change it up before you match up or waste time trying to figure out what you want to bring while everyone is chomping at the bit to dive in.

Helldivers 1 had four saves for loadouts, including a fun randomize. Why not Helldivers 2?

What the heckin' Eff?

This is the saddest shit, not just the loadout slots but the whole situation in general. You got a game as good as HD1, you know what works and what doesn't, you know what people enjoy and what they don't and yet they bungle things up constantly.

I have been DMing RPGs for years now and I know what people like and dislike through trial and error and during the past few years I am finally getting people telling me that my games are absolute fire so I know I'm doing something right. I'm not going to suddenly wilfully regress and start making games like I did way back then, I'm going to be building on top of my experience and feedback gained, obviously.

Current version of HD1 should have been the foundation for HD2 and AW should have just added on top of it. Three factions, loadouts, a lot of stratagems, weapons and vehicles on release. Then add fourth and fifth or even sixth faction, more weapons, vehicles and stratagems, new game type like space combat (fan made concept video), boarding actions, hive missions ala DRG (which we know works wonderfully) etc.

Maybe the switch to third person was too much for them or they got stock on some minute things that slowed them down or the engine is a hell to work with (most likely), who knows, but the results speak for themselves. Also a spaghetti code that feels like when you move a potted plant a few inches and the fridge stops working for some reason.

On the topic at hand, I dont think this game is as much doom and gloom as people are saying. Yes, there are some annoying aspects but the core gameplay is still great and I have over 300 hours invested at this time.

Yeah, there some things that definitely need tweaking but I am still having fun.

On another note, too many people are sleeping on the HMG turret. Its pretty much a must have part of the loadout for bots these days. It will just absolutely melt those huge patrol groups and makes shield and rocket devastators trivial

The regular Machine gun turret is my regular sidekick because the cooldown is so quick. Couple that with either the Autocanon Turret on bug missions or the Rocket Turret on Automatons and it is a force multiplier as well as aggro creator to help when you are moving to a different objective.

I usually take the HMG Turret on Automatons when I want to run interference for the guys carrying mission objective heavy weight strats.

Due to the backlash the Arrowhead CEO says it will be 60 days before the issues are addressed.

Article:
Fellow Helldivers,
I want to directly address the feedback you've raised about the Escalation of Freedom update. We've spent the last week listening to feedback, reflecting about the path ahead for Helldivers 2 and how we want to continue developing the game. In short, we didn't hit our target with the latest update. Some things we just didn't get right - and other more fundamental inconsistencies in our approach to game balance and game direction.
All of that is on us and we are going to own that. As many of you have pointed out, and we agree, what matters most now is action. Not talk.
To that end, here's what we intend to do in the upcoming updates.
Our aim within the next 60 days:
  • Continue to re-examine our approach to balance. Our intention is that balance should be fun, not "balanced" for the sake of balance.
  • Update how the fire damage mechanic works to tweak how the flamethrower serves as a close range support weapon. (A quick straight revert won't work, as it would break other things)
  • Rework gameplay to prevent excessive ragdolling
  • Re-think our design approach to primary weapons and create a plan for making combat more engaging
  • Re-prioritize bug fixes so that the more immediate gameplay-impacting bugs are prioritized.
  • Improve game performance (frame rate is a focus)
  • Rework Chargers
Additionally, from a bigger picture perspective we will be:
  • Exploring creation of an opt-in beta-test environment to improve our testing processes and we consider this a high-priority.
  • Post regular player surveys to gather more insights and feedback from the community.
  • Improve our process for patch/release notes - providing more context and reasoning behind changes.
  • More blog posts and streams where we expand on these topics for those interested.
We also want to thank you for your patience. We're grateful that so many of you provided constructive feedback and suggestions on the latest update.
Mikael E
Game Director & Arrowhead Game Studios

Why not hot fix the nerfs back to the original pre-patch build and keep the new stuff in the new warbond drop? Because it will break things. Oh, ok, nice. Weapon code is tied directly to what external object code outside of based on physics (hopefully) which affects the nerfed weapons?

The team at arrowhead have to realise that in a PVE sandbox the main focus should be fun. I understand they want a diverse box of toys but nerfing everything just leaves a sour note in the mouth.

Make the odds overwhelming, but make the guns feel and sound powerful...

I've accepted the Impaler now. It isn't fun when a herd of chargers are in play, but I know how to mitigate their b.s.

Stun Grenade, regular Eagle Strike.

I'm still playing on high levels, and I don't find the nerfs too bad. The first shotgun in the new warbond has been really fun. If they would tone down the charger spam, that would go a long way to making the game feel less tedious sometimes. But even aside from all this, nerfs are never fun, they never inspire people to want to play or restart playing, and any game developer should know this.

This new patch not only nerfed weapons it has matched me up with the most jackass players in the game. I have been kicked in all but two games. Right as the evac is landing. No warning that anything was going wrong in the team play, just ass holes.

They tend to be PC players too, what the fuck?

DIE CONSOLE PLAYER, DIE! 😈
I don't know, assholes are on all systems but us PC players tend to be more dickish since we know we have bigger penises, and that its just easier to coordinate trolling on PC.

At Least @mcz117chief isn't an asshole like the rest of you.

I can handle bantz, but whatever passive aggressive soy boy PC behavior that is pervasive in the younger generation makes me wish for a draft for [insert Democrat war here].

I know I'm just joking, PC players can be real assholes on multiplayers, and like I said its way easier to coordinate picking on one party member on PC. Ease of use with Voip programs and text chats.

I have a PC as well. I bought a PS5 to play this game specifically. The game tells you what platform a user is playing on and for whatever reason the PC crowd are the biggest problem when playing randoms.

If theyre not communicating through voice, these guys you run into probably pull up the steam overlay and quickly type a "lets fuck with this guy"

I don't doubt it, however the different hosts were booting other people in the game as well. When I do get in with a good group they all comment on how nice it was to get with a team that could joke, understand the assignment and not worry about friendly fire.

I'm only complaining because Arrowhead hasn't resolved the buddy/friend system, so it is hard to build a roster of like minded people on the Sony ecosystem.

Arrowhead would rather nerf fun than fix outstanding bugs or work on actual QoL

New Chemical Warbond releasing:

AKA the "Who Farted" Warbond.

Lol at the Stim Pistol. In a game where you can team kill with impunity, there is no one in any actual friends list who will use that much less rando's dropping in.

Also, September 17th is bringing back buffs to weapons:

Good.

not sure whether you're in their discord channel, but they've been doing a buff on guns every day and detailing the changes. Seems as though they want to bring the fun factor back to the weapons. Might have to get back to diving tbh

I am, but I don't use discord. I still don't fully understand how it all works and I don't care to spend the time learning it.

I do see their vignettes on instagram:

The nerfing was one of the main reasons I fell off that game. They took my railgun fun away. Not like the game was too easy with a strong railgun, but they felt the need to butcher it.

I wonder if you can use the Stim Pistol to troll your teammates. They just spent all of their strategems on heavy units and they are bleeding out, then you hit them with rapid fire stim bullets...SECOND LIFE!

Hah!

During my entire time playing I have stimmed another person maybe 5 times and all of those it was non-critical and I only did it because I wanted to for the novelty.

I stim people all the time and receive in kind. But a dedicated weapon to do this which removes a destructive toolset isn't something I want to be loading out with.

Tomorrow is the big update, here are some more notable changes to the weapons, enemies and strategems:

Bonus, the Oribtal Napalm Barrage was unlocked:

I actually like this versus the 380 or 110 HE barrages. It is so chaotic and seems to do a better job at clearing medium sized nests.

Sounds good to me. For all the shit talking people have been doing over this game recently, the devs listen to the community and seem to respond fairly quickly.

At almost 400 hours in the game, I am just ready for the Illuminate to arrive.

I just hit level 130. After honing my skills with what they have given us, I can't wait to actually try out some other primary weapons and play regularly at higher than level 7 missions. <- still hit or miss with mobs. Last night we had three chargers, two impalers and three bile titans all appear during the evac, in addition to the rest of the swarms.

That should be level 9 or 10, not level 7.

WTF?!

Sheesh, today was a waste. Tonights play sessions were filled with griefers, high level low skilled returners abusing the new Napalm Barrage strat when you are trying to run consoles for missile launches and radar stations, people randomly kicking me from games because I was too effiicient (literally got bitched at for not watching morons try out weapons because I was intent on doing objectives), just a complete clown show.

I should have known better, every time Arrowhead updates the game or Warbonds drop, there is about a 10 day window of idiots returning and acting like jackasses. So much that when you get with a good group, everyone remarks how refreshing it is to play with a non fucky team.

At least Arrowhead is following through on their promise, albeit slowly, rolling out updates. The DSS purports to offer up the new clan system as well as offering up new weapons/strategems when orbiting a planet.

I was finally approached by a Helldivers 2 group, so at least I have a steady roster of people in all timezones to group up with. The main guy involved has 2.5M xp. Crazy, hours put into it.
