Well the last 2 decades have been crammed with gaming devices and unique libraries. It's not unusual to miss some important stuff.

I feel like if you took 1980 to 1999 (or 2000?) you could make a list of ~200 games across console, handheld, and PC and have a very thorough list that represents those 20 years pretty adequately. But 00s to present day... I could make a list of 500 and still be leaving off so many must-play games. I know folks feel very nostalgic toward the older stuff -- I do too -- but the last 20 years have produced far more games worth playing than the preceding 20 years.
