"Deeper philosophical" like listening to Andrew Tate amirite?

Nah, i dont care about Andrew Tate

For me, Fight Club is more about not getting entirely wrapped up in the rat race of consumerism, and having the gull to speak your own truth no matter how much of an outlier that truth may make you. Finding yourself in spite of others.

🤷‍♂️

Its hip to dismiss Fight Club these days. Modern movie snobs will dismiss it as satire, which is only part of the larger picture.

The thing is, Fight Club sparks discussion where Basterds does not.

Fight Club was the only movie in my youth that me and my friends switched off cause how lame it was. Watched it a couple of years later cause people were saying how great it is and it still was lame AF.

This one is easy for me. I do not like Inglorious Bastards. Its one of the few Tarantino films I did not enjoy.

So Fight Club gets it by default. That said it is a fantastically styled production that brings very strong base content to the masses. Without a doubt the book is superior and really vibes on a few topics in depth. But the film gives people the cliffs notes and does it in a very digestible package.

I think that Fight Club has a unique kind of story which makes it stand out as a movie. The story is a bit bizarre but it sort of makes sense. Inglourious Basterds is yet another World War Two film, and frankly I think the world has had more than enough WW2 films. There should be a ban on new WW2 movies, it is just boring and done to death.

You haven't seen it, right?

You should really watch it my friend, it's good.

Fight club. Firstly because it was an excellent adaptation of what was quite a complex book and secondly Fincher really knocked it out of the park in terms of the direction. I think IB has a couple of good scenes but as a whole it didn't work for me, versus Pulp Fiction, which for me at least is still QTs best film.

It sure is. The subject has been overdone not just in movies but in popular culture in general. I just don't care if it was written well, do a movie about something else. This is like Kdrama's obsession with rich chaebols (conglomerate heirs). I am just bored to death of Nazi movies and nothing is going to make me interested in it. It is worse than superhero movies by a long shot, at least superhero movies have different settings and powers but WW2 movies, especially relating to Europe vs the Nazis, have been done enough. WW1 would have been okay, or the cold war or some other war but not WW2, not again.

What are the writers thinking? You know we should do a movie, set in World War 2, with the Nazis. That should be interesting and original. There is nothing the movie can do that is remotely interesting or entertaining. The end is already known, the heroes and villains are already known. I was watching trailers and clips on the movie on youtube trying to find a good clip for this thread and it just seems like yet another WW2 movie, but with different actors.

Fight Club is one of my favourites movies of all time. Ironic since I saw the commercials and was like "This looks retarded." Then I saw it and it was much, much more than what I assumed.

I love it and could watch it for ages.

You sound like your parents sat you down and forced to marathon direct to video WW2 films. I disagree with everything you said. I don't believe there were that many WW2 movies compared to other settings. It's not that profitable a subject. But most importantly it's not a genre. There's barely anything in common between Bridge on the River Kwai, Schindler's List and Dunkirk. WW2 movies can range from adventures to spy thrillers to comedies and westerns. Even capeshit movies like First Avenger were set in WW2.

This is legitimately one of the craziest posts I've ever seen like what the hell world War II movies actually are like inglorious basterds????

My post was saying that the subject of World War Two has been overdone, I wasn't saying that movies specifically like Inglourious Basterds have been overdone, but that WW2 movies in general have been overdone.
Where are the Napoleonic war movies, that's what I want to know.

Thanks He1nz. This competition has so many movies that I haven't seen yet but I will definitely be watching this one. Now if only all movies were on one streaming service...

Tough one. Basterds surprised me in how good it is, but did I enjoy it more than the frantic yet slick Fight Club…. I won't be voting of course.

And as per tradition, Mike hasn't watched a movie but can tell you which is better.

Just the opening scene of IB is better than the whole of FC. No contest

I bet I know who you were rooting for. 🤭
