FAQ's:
Who developed this game?
Night School Studios once again resumes development duties, only with the added resources of having been acquired by Netflix.

What is type of game is this?
Lost Signals is a supernatural mystery/horror graphic adventure game, where choices and your actions matter.

Do I have to have played the first one?
The game is largely stand alone, with a new cast. However there will be links to the original.

When will the game be out?
The game will release July 12th worldwide.

How much does it cost?
Free on Netflix, Less than £15 on consoles/PC. There is actually a decent amount off for pre-ordering early.

The game is free on Netflix?
That is correct. Due to Netflix purchasing Night School Studios last year.

What about an Xbox release?
No such release is planned at this time. It's speculated on that its possibly because Game pass is seen as a rival platform to Netflix's gaming efforts. Ironic, because the orginal Oxenfree was an Xbox exclusive. You guys have phones right... because it can also be played on mobile!

Where can I Pre-Order?
Switch, Playstation & Steam

If you havent played the first one, now is the time to catch up. It's currently on sale for peanuts and is well worth your time;

Game is out today. Updated with reviews.

On the whole pretty good, certainly not a "difficult second album". Will pick it up for sure, Steam still haven't announced launch price for some reason, but Switch and PS fans get a launch discount, so hopefully we will too.

What does "free on Netflix" even mean? How do I play this?

I'm not sure, I don't have Netflix. Could it work like that Black Mirror episode? I mean you do control a character and solve some puzzles etc so maybe its Cloud gaming? Someone with a Netflix account will have to fill us in lol.

Is the first one worth playing?

I only ended up playing it back in the day because it was free on PS Plus and ended up loving it. I even got the plat.

The story is great and there's a meta to it, where characters are aware events your replaying have happened before.... perhaps this time it will end differently.

Plus its £1.49, so worth a shot!

I think you have to login to Netflix on a browser and you can play it through there. I am not certain though. There was a mobile game which I am forgetting the name of which asked you to login to continue playing, so maybe it's only through mobile or tablet that you can play for free.
Is the first one worth playing?

It's a decent experience. Good atmosphere and writing but the actual game is pretty average, probably a 6 or 7 carried by the strength of its aesthetics and characters.

About 5 hours in, my verdict so far is that its not bad, but not as good as the first game. First game id give a 4/5, this one a 3/5. Definitely wouldn't want to come in fresh with the sequel as there is a lot of references to the first game. If subsequent play throughs are vastly different i.e you play as other characters that may significantly raise the score. Music and art is on point. I like that timing appears to matter, I for example visited a house that had been ransacked. I definitely got the impression if i hadn't done something else first I'd of been able to get there first. Story is picking up, so lets see where it goes.

Hope it's not too much of a taboo, but I'm bumping this old thread since I finally got around to playing this recently.

Agreed. I think this sequel ends up being much weaker than the first in a number of ways.

Oxenfree 2 takes a bit longer to complete, but somehow feels padded out with less meaningful content. The smaller cast and reliance on the walkie-talkie mechanic results in you exploring around with the same side character the entire game rather than having the opportunity to build "trust" in-person with a several characters, like in the first Oxenfree.

I appreciate the story themes that the writers included with the new adult-aged characters and their voice acting was good, but the end choices didn't leave me feeling like I was presented with true dilemmas. I didn't care that much about the non-MC characters, so the decision was pretty easy (Apparently 75% of players agreed, going off the stats presented prior to the credits)

Another disappointment was the music, which was good at setting the mood in the first game without being overbearing. Unfortunately, I don't think there was a single memorable track in the sequel. When some of the old songs played during the closing credits, it just emphasized how weak the new music was.

There also doesn't seem to be a "New Game +" like the original, nor were there any gameplay mechanics like leaving hints for future playthroughs. Overall, the gameplay ended up being simplified even thought he original wasn't particularly complex to begin with.

Last complaint: the original was not really scary, but it was creepy and set an unsettled mood. It doesn't help that the new MC characters don't really "freak out" when crazy stuff starts to happen.

A lot of sequels try to build on the original, but end up bloating the experience. Oxenfree 2 has the opposite problem: the sequel feels much thinner on content and gameplay. I'm still glad I played it, but I don't see a need for another sequel since the devs appear to have run out of ideas for this world.

Similar sentiments here. It feels like a game you play, more out of loyalty to the first game. Jacob.. was it? Is a terrible character IMO. It really suffered from having a smaller cast. I think a lot of the extra replayability was added in, in the first one, so perhaps we will get some substantial dlc. The game is worth a few quid/dollars but that's about it. It's like watching a lesser season of your favorite tv show.. still good, but you know it could of been so much more.
