I love the Resident Evil games

But how did the very first Resident Evil movie disappoint and fail this hard? I can't even say that it was good as background noise. Put it on while cleaning a few things, touching up the place and it's just so boring and plain. The lead actress is ugly as fuck too

I don't know how he landed his role as director for the Resident Evil movies, or who in the fuck thought it was a good idea to sign off on him to do this, but I thought the films would at least be mildly entertaining. The story is so bad. The actors and actresses in this moving are disgusting to lay eyes on. It's all action too… For games that are survival horror, this guy completely left out the horror. It's a sad pos excuse movie that I refuse to tie to the series in any way

The director even married Milla Jovovich. Abhorrent taste all around

The first film was a pretty interesting adaptation of a series that is essentially B schlock horror clichés. I found it enjoyable and I suppose others must have as well since they made a bunch more. They're not high art or anything but they're definitely some of the better video game films and at some points, I enjoyed them more than the games themselves.

I appreciate that Capcom has made the CG ones that are actually canon to the games for fans who are more die-hard. I enjoy those as well for different reasons.

Now if you want to talk about the reboot one... Bleh. That one is just insulting. Worst film I've seen since Nicholas Cage's Wicker Man reboot in 2006.

I also came to really like Jovovich because of these films. Not them so much, but the Director's commentary where she sounds like she gives a damn and enjoys herself.

But to each their own.

I appreciate that Capcom has made the CG ones that are actually canon to the games for fans who are more die-hard. I enjoy those as well for different reasons.

The only one of those CG films that I would say is legitimately a good film is Damnation. Leon and Ada were great in that, and the action was cool.

I also came to really like Jovovich because of these films. Not them so much, but the Director's commentary where she sounds like she gives a damn and enjoys herself.

But to each their own.

Of course she enjoys herself, those films are one big love letter to her from her husband.

He seem to be pursuing opportunities to do video game adaptations. He's done a bunch of them. Alien vs. Predator I was hyped for. It ended up being the worst movie in both franchises.

Never knew the CG Resident Evil movies were canon, that should be worth the time. I've heard they're alright

Disgusting. Really wish it were anybody except this woman. Not to say that she didn't stand her ground as the lead, but she hasn't stood out at all from all the scenes I've watched. Saw like three or four of these Resident Evil movies now in twenty to thirty minute segments and there's something I hate about them aside from the fact that they're boring and underwhelming in comparison to the games
