LIS is actually a pretty good story if you stick with it. LIS2 is unfortunately hampered by some heavyhanded political stuff, however, it's not a continuation of LIS directly versus being set within the same universe so it's not fundamental to play that. I'd give LIS and the prequel Before the storm a strong recommendation. It's not perfect by any margin, but if you enjoyed The Telltales games then you'll enjoy LIS.

The first game was good. Then it went downhill from there
