Think on the scale of Super Mario Odyssey, will there be another system seller Super Mario game that will release for the Switch in 2023 or 2024?

I think it will be a cross-gen title like BOTW was. either fall 2023 or 2024
I'm thinking similarly. Like a late 2024 or even early 2025 Mario game releasing for Switch and its successor. No idea what kind of game it will be or the ideas they have in mind for its theme but it'll probably try to do something as large as Odyssey again

I'll say no, but it wouldn't shock me if they did. We're assuming they'd reserve it for the Switch 2 launch, but for all we know they may plan to launch with Metroid Prime 4 and Animal Crossing with Mario and Zelda coming a little later than expected.

It'll be a launch title for the next switch. It's won't be cross platform. Usually when they make a game cross platform it's because it was announce on the old hardware and then used as a system seller for the new one after development delays.

Don't know how much life the Switch has left tbh. I think they should concentrate on their next console.

It's about to hit year 6 and it was already less powerful than its competitors. It should have been replaced by now. If there isn't a new console by April 2024 they are going to be hurting. I can't remember the last switch game I bought.

It's been six years almost though. There's gotta be a Mario game that's like at least 75% complete by now if not more…

Switch is in sunset mode. They are riding it out till the end of MK DLC and then launch switch 2.

Maybe we get a 2D mario or Odyssey DLC. But whatever Mario game they are working on is being developed for their next gen system

I'm sure there's been rumours of a new Side Scrolling title, but not a full fat, AAA 3D game, no. They're probably already well into development of a Switch 2 game at this point.

Problem is tbh they lost the magic a bit on the 2D side. The NSMB games are a bit poor compared to the 8 and 16 bit classics, in part due to dodgy art style but also iffy physics that just don't give the satisfying crunchy responsiveness you need in a 2D title.

That's a lot of no votes.

It's not guaranteed of course but it is high time for a new 3D Mario. Getting one this or next year does not seem unlikely at all.

This is my guess, but I'll go a step further. The next 3D Mario will the premier launch title for their next console. In some heavily hyped Nintendo Direct Nintendo will reveal a 3D Mario title that looks a little too good for the Switch. Then they will transition into announcing the Switch 2 with that game coming to it at launch. It'll probably be cross gen like BotW was, but the premier experience will be exclusive to the new console.
