All the times while playing or reflecting back on the game Resident Evil 4

Out of all the great moments in the game, which ones left the greatest impressions on you? Can be anything that stood out, positive or negative or anything in between as long as it stood out to you

Here is my list:

  • Village (Pueblo) in its entirety. Near perfection start to finish
  • Blind Executioner(s)
  • Verdugo
  • Sniper rifle shootout in Salazar Castle "Water Room"
  • Zealot Leader commanding other zealots to launch fire balls at Leon and Ashley
  • Sacrifice ritual performed at alter in Salazar Castle "Main Hall"
  • Jack Krauser first confrontation
  • Regenerators

All the Ganado phrases that I don't understand but love hearing. They're a great part of replays.

Super Salvador from the Waterworld stage of Mercenaries used to scare me. Not in the sense that I was scared, but in the sense that he seemed unstoppable and I was going to die instantly if he got anywhere near. Not even a bit of resistance like regular Dr Salvador or the Bella Sisters, just a clean chop off from the giant nutty bastard who doesn't stop swinging his double chainsaw. I used to enjoy playing as Krauser for the instant kill.

That's another thing that was so good: being able to play as a boss and two people that weren't even in main story. If only they were playable in the main campaign it would be perfect.

@Franky Family the blind ones with claws are called Garrador

Most of them have already been shouted out but the hedgemaze in the garden I always dread in a good way on replays. Same with the sewer/dungeon with Salazars pets. First playthrough not knowing how to see then and getting ambushed freaked the hell out of me.

Also the section where you play as Ashley. It's just such great, short change of pace. It doesn't overstay it's welcome and it really stood out to me the first time I played RE4, like they really thought of everything for this game.

Pretty much every section of the game is a standout part. I know the island is kind of scoffed at but I don't think it's bad, it just had to follow the village and the castle which is an impossible task.

Have you ever seen the original Japanese version of Ashley's section? It's all classic fixed camera angles. Nice little throwback, and it's done in a way that shows off most of the items.

If you have the Steam version you can also play with it enabled using the modern patch that is included in RE4HD

I agree about the Island, I didn't realise how hated it was until years later. I enjoy every part of the game. It all ramps up, but by that point you've upgraded weapons to their maximum. JJ (Gatling gun) is the most dangerous thing added really, outside of that it's just armour and stun rods, and the creepiest enemies in the game: Regenerators and Iron Maidens.

When you shoot the wine bottle in the painting

One bullet, one sound effect, one riddle solved resulting in Leon advancing

That's all it took to create that outstanding moment in the game

Playing the whole game in VR was pretty mind-blowing.

Individual scene wise definitely the shoot out in the cabin. Funny story actually I was playing this part and got a work phone call on my Quest 2. I answered and took a call in the middle of this rickety hut, it was quite surreal.

Let's hope they couldn't hear the Ganados shouting.

How was it when the camera jumped for 3rd person stuff? I always doubted the port would happen because of them

I think you could change a setting that made it so camera only changed for cutscenes.. . I might be wrong.

It's definitely a really fun time. The shooting ranges in VR are also awesome.

For some reason, RE4 was the one game my dad actually wanted to try and play. He never played games with me. Wasn't his thing. Maybe it was the graphics, maybe the setting, but RE4 had caught his eye.

This was like right when it had just came out on Gamecube. I think I got it for my 14th birthday. Never had siblings, so this was awesome to have someone else take an interest in gaming at home

After showing him how the controls worked, he was on his way. While it took quite a while, more than one night, he had finally made his way through the opening village. I remember this look of pure ecstasy on his face. He had thought that was the entire game and he had just beaten it!

When it was obvious he hadn't, he goes, "wait - there's more?" and passed the controller to me and never asked to play again

Easily one of the best GameCube games. I liked the village center with the chainsaw man, saving the dog and in return it helping you against El Gigante later on, the mysterious Merchant, chucking harpoons at Del Lago, the besieged cabin with Luis, "the big cheese" Mendez in the farm, Krauser, the Castle, and even playing as Ada in Separate Ways and Assignment: Ada.
