Which movie do you think is the best?

A score of 7.4 on IMDB classifies it as a good movie in my view.
My local McDonalds has a 4.8/5 rating on Google and I wouldn't consider it a good burger joint.

For me RPO is high quality cheese whiz entertainment. Has member berries, pretty FX and great music. You just let your brain check out for a couple hours and stare at the screen.

I don't get it. I've also never seen either of these movies. Are you disputing that 5 is an average score?
Just showing what a 5 gets you. CHUD is crap unless you are a fan of cheesy horror. I would be hard pressed to call it 'average'.... which I what I used the term crap.

As I said, I've never seen it. But 5 is the very definition of an average score. Whereas game reviews seem to start at 7 and end at 10.

Say what you will, if people didn't like McDonald's it wouldn't be a successful business.
Even then, it's not a fair comparison. A movie is a movie, while a McDonald's is not rated only for its food, but also its location, service, friendliness of staff and a bunch of other things. McDonald's can be compared with a movie theater, but not a movie.

7.4 is decisively not an average score. The lower ranked movies in the top 250 are at 8.0. You may think the movie sucks but that's not the general consensus.

Good or bad is subjective to the viewer. So dud can think it is good and I disagree and that is cool.

7.4 is a average though? I'm not sure why that means anything?
All scores on there are an average of voting scores. Generally IMDB is a good reference to determine on whether to watch a movie or not. They also break down the scores by sex and age if you're interested. It's all a good reference.

I wouldn't say that a score for an average movie is a 5. It's more likely close to a 6, but anything above a 7 is above average and generally worth watching, unlike games where anything below a 9 is unlikely to be worth playing.
I mean, the first Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire scores a 7.4, the same as Ready Player One. I don't know about you but I don't think many people consider that movie average.

If you still doubt IMDB, all the twilight movies score between 4.5 and 5.5.
Harry Potter generally scores between 7 and 8.
Lord of the Rings between 8.5 and 9.

That is all.

okay then guess it is reputable.

For a movie released in the last 10 years 7.4 is below average. Imdb has become an advertising platform with rigged scores.

I've only seen Jaws and Taken. Taken was a fun idea for turning the hunted into the hunter or whatever.

Jaws wins for me though because of the impact it had beyond the screen and just how terrifying it is. The bit where the shark pops out as he's chumming the water? Fuck dat.

Frozen was actually a good movie though, crazy IMDB rigging the votes to make very movie as bad as each other.

I don't actually think they are rigged. I don't know why people think that.

I was just trying to point out that the scoring system of IMDB can't be compared to gaming scores.
Any movie above a 7 is generally worth checking out. None of those movies I listed can really be consider below average. That was the point.

I guess the taste of the viewers is just weird to me then. Avatar is glorified Pocahantas 3.0.

IMDB is a joke. It gets brigaded just like RT.

I don't even bother with reviews of movies; I just watch and judge it myself.

Games I only watch reviews to see if any critiques are things I can't stand in a game and make it a non-player. I can accept wasting 2hrs on a movie… I'll never get back the 30 I dumped into Watch Dogs or any of the GTA campaigns.
